There has been a TSB for Mazda's in regards to their LCA's. I don't have or fully remember the details, but it was for the same sort of problem-clunking in the front suspension. Just a possibility.

They probably have the same LCAs as we do. Did they ever improve the Mazda ones? In other words, after they are replaced according to the TSB, were they noise free?

The question still stands, if the geometry and the ends that connect to the chassis and the knuckle are the same for the aluminum vs steel construction why would it be isolated to the aluminum lower control arms?

Was there never any complaints from the Focus S owners either (who also had a ferrous LCA afaik).

I don't fully remember. Zack (Zillon) had come across the info while searching for ways to fix his clunk, iirc. Nobody has officially tried anything in regards to the LCA yet. After I replace my suspension I will have a better idea if that's my issue or not.

Volvo has the same issue and they showed the LCA bushing going out and causing the issue.

Don't necessarily jump to conclusions, we're still in the conceptual stages. Once I change my suspension I will have a better idea of at least my problem. If I still have clunk then I will probably order a new LCA to see. It would be nice if I had chassis ears, but without them I have to follow the time-tested mechanical advice of when in doubt-throw parts at it.

Has anyone checked to see if the LCA of vehicles with the noise is the same as those without? I know the strut brace (or some other similar part) proved to be different for most vehicles without the noise...

My vehicle has never had any suspension noise short of a little creak here and there, and my LCA doesn't appear to be any different then other Focuses I've seen. It'd be interesting if it did fix the issue, despite no outward differences...

I am looking forward to hearing your results once you change your suspension. When are you thinking of doing everything?

Everything should be getting done around the middle of June. I could pull everything right now to swap bearings (I know 100% that at least one is broken), but I don't want to take everything apart now just to do it all again next month.
