Agreed; a simple google search will lead them directly to this forum.

Because they figure it's better to feign ignorance than to take responsibility and just level with customers that they acknowledge there's a problem and their trying to solve it. Hell, If I heard that, I'd feel 10x more confident about FORD. But this head in the sand, we don't know what your talking about approach just makes me feel like a bought and got stuck with a POS that even the manufacturer doesn't want to claim as theirs.

From all my digging, fixing, and tweaking, I'm pretty certain that the welds joining the strut tower to the firewall sheetmetal are the source of the issue. It's likely a problem they fixed in production, but won't apply a fix for early production cars due to difficulty in maintaining standards for the fix and the labor involved.

If I'm right, it's not something that can be fixed with a simple parts swap; it will require additional spot welding or the injection of some sort of caulk or epoxy.
I believe everything above the SE Sport in 2012 had the alloy LCAs, I'm pretty sure my SEL has those even though it had the standard suspension, they don't appear to be the source of the noise as far as I can tell.

Although my car also has the mass dampers that the SEL wasn't supposed to have either according to other people, not that this is part of the problem or solution.

It definitely would seem to be something to do with the strut towers to the rest of the body in that area. There is a lot of metal packed close yet greater than 6mm away that could rattle.

You guys realize this site has been populated with a string of FoMoCo boutique, social media customer service types right? FoMoCo doesn't need to Google sh!t; they have been immersed in this never ending circle jerk for months. Action now will speak louder than any social media words. Thanks...unfortunately last time when u did this...my dealer is now saying they have to "hear it first" when they have already done the TSB and acknowledged the clunking previously. It appears the customer service is going backwards not forwards...let alone providing a solution.
