I have a feeling it might be related to this:

Here's a photo of the area:
Since I couldn't reduce the noise present by sliding a plastic card into the gap, I'm not 100% certain that this is it. However, I may not have been able to slide the card in far enough. Given that I was able to produce a rattle upon striking the pinch weld area, there's a good chance this might be related to the issue.

I might have missed it but has anyone taken a picture of where they're placing the credit card exactly?

and Zillion maybe placing some rubber silicone to fill that gap might quiet it down?

You're better off posting in the Wheels, Tires, Brakes & Suspension forum or the MK1 Focus forum.

This discussion pertains to the 2012+ Mk3 Focus only.

Karen from Ford Executive Reps, called me again and we discussed the issue and she remembered talking to me before and how 2 dealers said there was nothing wrong with the car, I was like WTF? I know there ia a problem, both dealers heard the noise. Why can't Ford admit to having a problem and they just don't know what the F'k is wrong. I think Ill give them till Feb 1, then I am going to get a Lawyer (will be class action) so I will need everyone with the problem, whether you traded in or not for witnesses, and people with same problem... maybe FORD Will WAKE THE F'K up then. Either Admit to having a problem and you just don't have a clue, or just pony up and fix our damn cars, this is ridiculous. I am getting tired of the BS...I just can't afford to take a bath in the depreciation, and can't afford to get something else.

Anyone that is told "this is normal for that vehicle" needs to not only have the service manager put that in writing on any work-order documentation generated upon an investigative service visit BUT also to have it explained, in writing, what "normal" functionality produces or contributes to the creation of the noise. It is also advisable that if you visit more than one dealership and get the run-around, locate a reputable shop that will independently document the presence of this noise. Don't get wrapped up in second opinion that goes beyond documenting the issue, such as, don't start paying for an independent shop to diagnose the issue - just get a confirming second opinion outside of the FoMoCo service network.

I've already been in touch with a lawyer.
