No DRL's in the US models unless you have a valid fleet identification number and order it with DRL's.

If you read my OP carefully about the message center, it works fine and shows the headlights off properly as long as I am not in reverse with the "park aid" message displayed. It's not only the headlights that do this. If a door is open in park or drive, and then closed while in reverse, it will show it's still open when the car is put in drive and the "park aid" message disappears.
Then just push the button for fogs ;) Remember that this, again, is a world car, and in many European areas, it is unlawful to drive with fog lights on in conditions that don't warrant it. Thus, they design a car for the world, not just U.S. where fogs are on when it is a clear night in the lit city ;)

For the MFD issue... how many things are going on while you're reversing the car? :p I'll see if mine does it as well, but it was most likely an oversight by Ford because they didn't consider that doors will open while reversing. As people have posted, if this does happen, a left-right on the D-pad should clear this up. :)

My display shows the front and rear lights on even when I have it in parking light mode, which I have confirmed, forces the headlights off and only leaves the corners. Not accurate, but after my VW, problems like this are quite trivial ;)

First, seems to me that the majority of these "issues" are just due to the fact he doesn't like how the car is engineered period. If you wanted something engineer differently, you should have bought a higher priced vehicle. Second, some of this comes from being one of the first to obtain a new model vehicle. Third, good luck - it seems Ford has been more then patient. Hope it all works out.

To CSVT2060:
I do not have experience with any other Ford vehicles since my mom's 1990 Taurus, nor a car with auto headlights and wipers, DCT, GDI, auto parking, parking assist sonars...etc, so I did not have anywhere near the same expectations as you.
My last car was a prius with nav, bluetooth, audio, and climate on a large touchscreen, so I had some expectations about the MFT. I still like the MFT better than the prius, even with the bugs!
I really am sorry that you are not getting the response you need and deserve from Ford.
Although I may not agree with the severity of your issues, I do understand the feeling that you should not have experienced them on this brand new very expensive car. I do not agree with blackraven's tone above, and only hope I did not come across that way to you.

To answer some of your questions:
I get the dry wipe often, but not as much as you. I would guess about 60% of the time. Sometimes the windshield is wet when I get in, and don't know if it sensed it, or would have just done that wipe anyway. I do see that the wipers change speed a lot when in auto mode, but since I don't have anything to compare to, I assumed it would work exactly like it does, and I like it. I leave it in auto all the time and forget about it.

For your time issue, I am sorry, I didn't even think about the MFT w/o nav. Well I just want to let you know that if you have the nav, the clock works fine. maybe ford will upgrade you for your troubles. I think they should. I will agree that an inaccurate clock is a PITA!

I checked my dimming mirror today and it does dim when the car is off/locked/smartkey out of range.

As far as the headlights, I really really want them to be DRL. I hope the dealer can set that up for me. My prius did not have auto headlights, or DRL, but I left them in the on position all the time and they would go out when I opened the door.
I get that you dont want this because it is a workaround for the bug you found, not a fix. Imagine though if ford found it first and just put the DRL function on all of them. You would not have found the issue, and therefore should be satisfied with that part of the car.
As far as your door indicators with the same problem, I don't know what to tell you. It definitely sounds like a bug that should be fixed, but I would hope that it is much lower priority than the MFT system. Would you be feeling better about ford if they had just told you that?

You don't even have your car, so wait until you have an "issue" and then see what your customer service expectations are and go from there. That's poor thinking on your part having to buy a more expensive car to get a better "engineered" car. Actually it's exactly the thinking Ford is trying to change with the new Focus.

Also, thanks for letting me know your "opinion" that Ford has been more than patient. I am impressed that you are able to surmise that from this short post, since you haven't had to be the one involved in it. I guess it's OK for us to give Ford a pass for their poor "engineering" should go out and buy something more expensive if we want something without flaws.

Your type of thinking is what Ford doesn't need--unless they don't want to be world class.

Once you recieve your car and are able to post from experience with it, then you will have a leg to stand on. Until then, good day.

I appreciate the post and no you didn't come across that way to me. I appreciate your explanations and understanding why I feel the way I do about these issues.

Thank you for checking out the operation of your car and getting back to me.

Should of kept the Fusion but I wanted better gas mileage then the 24MPG I was getting with the Fusion.
my wife loves the Fusion, it was actually my car, she loved it so much that she took it and told me I can buy a new car.

However, given the crap I've dealt with my Focus... Well lets just say she doesn't want to deal with for her next new car. 14 year relationship with Ford comes to an end.
Owned a 97 Taurus SHO, 00? Escort, 08 Fusion SE, 12 Focus SEL all bought brand new...

Some other company more deserving can have our business. It's a shame cause my wife already promised me a Mustang for my midlife crisis, guess I'll have to find a replacement.

I don't really blame you for how you feel but you should look at it from the other end. the first year of a model is ALWAYS problematic at best. and that is well known. it doesn't matter if it is ford, cheby, chrysler or any other brand. yeah you got royally screwed by the dealer you are trying to work with but on the other hand there are other dealers out there who would appreciate your business.

Mustangs have been around forever and I dont' think I know of anyone who has had the kinds of issues you have had with one. Give up on the focus if you want but not the mustang LOL

It's not just the dealer but Ford Corp themselves, when they themselves say ”we don't care what dealers do” that speaks a ton.

And MFT isn't new considering it was out almost a year before the 12 Focus in the lincolns/explorer/edge.

Luckily I haven't had any MFT issues or SYNC issues. I have the message display door open glitch, and some bass-level rattling (to be expected when bass is coming through door speakers as well as the subwoofer). My headliner console is also loose and can be pushed about an inch up, but the headliner doesn't seem to be loose anywhere else but there.

Keep us updated in this thread on what you find out and while solutions may not come overnight, they still may take some time although months should not go by without atleast an update from Ford for you and others.

Do you have information on the TSB released for the small message display and other module glitches?

Feta...trying running 89 octane and see if it elimates some of your shudder. Seems to have worked for me and some other owners.

Well, it's a new week. Over the long weekend, when I shut off the car, the clock decided it was either noon or midnight, and it was actually around 6 pm. Getting tired of resetting the clock. Also, the door rattle was worse this morning with the 50 degree overnight temps, even with the radio at low volume.

We will see if I get any response from Ford this week. They have multiple emails they haven't bothered to respond to yet. Undecided if I should try to go up another level at Ford or not.

Does anyone know if the customer support managers have supervisors that are contactable?

Also, I would like to forward a version of this post to Ford. Anyone have an email of someone with some clout?

Thanks.
