Man o Man, all that horse beating...you know the A>S>P>C> A> will have something to say...good explanations Gary, it is amazing how one line in a movie warped so many people...it just shows the sheep factor in America sometimes...no offense to anyone intended

hey vin

thats so true about movies. you'd figure a/xers would be knowledgable about cars right. well one time i showed up at an a/x out on long island driving a countach. the movie canonball run was out and mentioned 220 as top speed for the car(actually 168 w/wing on.) sure enough, i was asked does it do 220 mph! who would believe anything about that movie.

Just my 2 cents, "double clutching" refers to shifting a non-syncromesh transmission where the shift pattern e.g. 1st-clutch in-neutral-2nd-clutch out, etc. "Heel-toeing" refers to blipping the throttle while in neutral between shifts e.g. 1st-neutral-throttle-2nd etc. It helps eliminate the rpm lag that naturally occurs between up-shifts so that the next gear matches its optimum rpm. Anyway, I used it at the FOCUS CHALLENGE at Willow Springs last week end and it was great.

Garyk has it, that is what double clutching is. It is a term the 18 wheeler drivers know all about. Before there was synconization (spelling) of transmissions, double clutching was a learned art. The idea is to match the speed of the motor with the gears, this allowed you to shift up or down easier. I hope this thread dies..................................
