SCCA AutoX - Anybody running an STS SVT Focus in here?

I am winning my class (G Stock) at the local autoXs now with my bone-stock SVTF. I was thinking about coming back next spring with an STS or otherwise modified car. Anybody in here running a tuned SVT in SCCA ? Also looking to do some regular laps at the local road course as well...

In any case, I am dissapointed with the severe lack of aftermarket goodies for the SVTF and wondered if anybody had already gone through this process.

Thanks.

I run a zx3, and i finish second pretty much every time at SCCA events. First is a mini (i run H stock). There are a few guys that run svts, and they are mostly stock. The do have R-compound tires on Kazera 17 inch wheels. I believe the tires are Khumo Victoracers. I run falken Azenis on my stock 16 inch wheels. Auto-x is fun as crap.

I am new to AutoX (just did my 2nd one). How about some tips on how to win in GS? Celicas and MiniS are the class of GS. I think I need to go slower in the slow parts and not push so hard.

Here are some pictures of the last AutoX.....I drive the black SVTF that is running on 3 wheels.

I know of 2 SVTs in my club, and both run GS. The one that does the best has Konis, R-compounds, and a lot of experience.

You should be able to stomp all over the Celicas, but those Mini's are awfully nimble... Pardon me if I say anything you already know.

One of the best things about the SVTF is it's neutral chassis. Work on getting your rear-end to rotate through trail-braking (braking while turning in) and throttle lifts into the turns. This will help you set up a better line and keep your momentum up. You shouldn't shift more than once or twice, period. I had been shifting into 2nd and keeping it there the whole time, but in my last one I kept it in 1st till the very end (where I missed 2nd and lost 2-3 tenths. :( ) I was surprised by just how far I could go in 1st, and was able to stay at the top of the powerband through every turn. I hit the rev limiter at the end of a couple straights, but it more than made up for it when I was able to brake hard to get the best (and not necessarily the fastest) entry speed and be able to power through and out of the turn without languishing at low revs like I had when I went in fast and left it in second.

Definitely take the time to get set up for the best line. Coming in 5-10MPH slower is alright if it allows you to maintain that speed throughout the entire turn and really power out of it instead of struggling to overcome understeer through the turn and coming out off-line and off-cam.

I went from a 63.1 to a 61.5 and won GS the very first time I did this. And we all know how much 1.3 seconds is!

Hope I helped.

Um, yes he is. If you read your rules, you'll see that dampers are free in stock classes.

13.5.A : The make of shock absorber may be substituted providing that the number, type, (e.g., tube, lever, etc.) system of attachment and attachment points are not altered.

Its not unheard of professionals running $2000+ custom dampers at national events.

And that's what I get for taking the words of others instead of looking through all of the rules...

My bad. Maybe I should just get some Hoosiers, dampers, and crash bolts to try and run really well in G Stock and see if I can maybe compete beyond my division.

I autocross my SVTF. G stock with an ITG pro-filter. I was wondering if urethane rear motor mount bushings would bump me out of stock? What about uretahane rear sway bar bushings? I run Fulda Extremo tires (180 tread wear) which were on the car when i got it? Any suggestion on an autocross only tire that will fit the stock 17's? Sorry if I hijacked this thread.
