Not to take anything away from some pretty sweet hitch rack fab'n but yah I'm a former mountain biker thinking about getting back into the dirt some. I'm old school. Back in the day, I bought a Trek 8700 (part carbon fiber, part aluminum) and did some off roading and even some competitions. Even managed one 3rd place finish.

Now my bike is mostly road-ridden but I still think about gettin' the proper tires back on and havin' a proper good time. SE MN are the trails I'm most familiar with. Some OK ones nearer the Twin Cities, so I hear, but I haven't explored 'em much.

So you mountain bikers... here's a question for you:
My old school Rock Shox Judy elastomers are toast. WAY toast. Anybody want to recommend a decent fork for me? Not super spendy, either. I'm not a racer anymore. Or I might just rebuild this one for about $50. OR I might just put the originally spec'd (rigid) fork on the bike for free and save some weight. But then suffer some on the trails...

Hmmm

REBA. ...

Yea I am 40 & a half..LOL. I been on bmx bikes from 7 to 13. Form 15 to now MTB. My last one before this 2011 Fuji 29er was a Mongoose AmpII, 1996 full suspension. I went from Urban to off road again this past June. I have not did off road for 8 yrs. Was fun & it came back to me fast.

But the Reda RL forks are great for the price. Rate up there with the over priced FOX. I even thought of going Lefty conversion, but the Reba I have is almost eqaul to a Lefty

Hey guys, I just saw this thread. I run a new bike shop here in SoCal and am a mountain biker. I just recently purchased a 1996 Gary Fisher Supercaliber Team Issue Limited Edition Paola Pezzo gold medal replica. Full XTR with Raceface Cranks, Cane Creek Wheels, Chris King headset, carbon frame, this thing is sweet..

Anyways, if there is anything you gys need, let me know, I've been in the industry for about 16 years. Parts, tech questions, etc, let me know.

not my images, and not my bike, but it looks like this one.

NICE.. Yea I started this thread because FJ Forums has one & it is pages long. WE needed one here but not mean ride od or comment. LOL. One of them two.

But it is nice to have you aboard for sure. As I stated I been in this stuff a long time. BUT stepped out a few years. Just did FAMILY URBAN rides. Now I am back into it. So I may ask you stuff often. I also go to www.mtbr.com a lot for help..

I'll probably be asking for some help in the next coming weeks. When I parked the bike last year, the transmission was all out of adjustment and my brakes were almost shot. I know my way around bikes but the transmission on my Fezzari are beyond my current skill level to figure out on my own.
