Mine turns no matter which way it's inserted. You'll get used to putting in one way in no time though. Make sure the key works in the door locks.

I put some thread locker on the key blade retaining screws and will update this post to report how it goes. We'll see if they hold tight.

I ordered a flip key and seem to have a problem.... I was told that the key blade is the wrong size/type. I went to walMart Lowes and Ace all said the same thing. I sent a message to the seller, not sure if they will be able to resolve the issue or not. I am going to go to my local locksmith on Monday, after work. Does anyone know the proper size blank that I would need to use?

Well, I had to take mine to a locksmith who had done a few replacement keys with controls on them. He said it would not fit correctly for him to cut and that to try it might get ruined. I told him that it's as well as ruined if I can't use it. He tried and with a little effort with hand filing the edges it worked. Good luck

This guy can cut any key.

Back on topic...So before we order the key, all we need to do is let the seller know we have a 2012 and find a place that will cut it? If so, I'm in.

Does anyone know of someplace that can cut our side key blank in the metro Detroit area? I am interested in getting a third key for the security and ability to continue to program additional keys in the future should that become necessary, but also to allow me to always have two keys at all times with a third left safely with a third party whom I'd trusted (ex. family) or in an undisclosed location.

I'd hate to be held hostage to the tune of more than $125 for a pre cut key and potentially more for the dealer to program it just because no one bought the $7000 machine to cut the keys.

We've seen this one before, if the blade doesn't match, which it does not they do not have and cannot supply a key for a 2012 Focus.

The Focus uses a side milled key blank, not the old end milled type. This key will not work.

NOTE:
Please ensure that you currently use a FOUR (4) button remote. If you use the 3 button remote then you will need a different version. Please check our listings for the 3 button unit or email us (if you are not able to find it). Also, please ensure that the key blade on your remote matches the key blade blade profile shown in the listing. Some of the newer vehicles (e.g. 2012 Ford Focus may use a different key blade style). If this is the case and your key blade profile does not match the one shown in this listing then this remote will NOT WORK with your vehicle (as the key blade will not fit).

The one you linked to says it fits, but it does not because the key blade is incorrect.

I posted about this back in May as well, I contacted the seller and he confirmed it will not work with our 2012 Focus.
