What neat tricks and tips have you've found since owning?

Actually, on my very first attempt, I turned the key and the trunk lid popped open. That was very weird.

Did you hold it down before you turned the key until awhile after the computer started? If so then that's odd as its always worked for me, but if you waited until after the computer started to display the trip data you waited too long and it won't go into test mode.

Going outside right now to try again. I will press the left OK button before even inserting the key. Then I will turn the key and start the engine. I'll report back.

The "Speedo guage" option is what I had wanted to see. Good stuff. Like having my current speed front and center as I drive. That display ought to be the default when starting the vehicle normally. Wish I could lock it in.

Not to sound like an ass, but is it that hard to see the speedo right next to it?

Yes, actually, it is. Style won out over ergonomics. The LCD panel display is the brightest element in the dash. It's dead center. It's the natural element that will attract one's eye in a quick glance. It's a got a big, fat number representing fuel economy that is easily misinterpreted as mpg by someone unaccustomed to driving the vehicle, or who is accustomed to driving other vehicles that present speed as a dead-center digital value.

Forward speed is the most critical bit of information -- unless you like traffic tickets. One must train one self to look at a non-focal point to obtain that important data.

More than once during the period shortly after taking delivery, I've found myself going faster than the speed limit because my normal dash sweep failed to take in primary data (speed) that is set off to the side as if it were secondary data. I have had to retrain myself to consciously look away from the brightest most significant portion of the dash in order to see what is really the most important data element--forward speed.

ummm ok. I have been driving for 20+ yrs (and 42+ vehicles) and never had a prob glancing at the speedo when driving, I even owned an 06 Scion XB (center main dash speedo). Never an issue. but ok

Besides, anything over 55-65 is not totally accurate anyways. unless you use a GPS or true airspeed/groundspeed indicator

I'll adapt. But with better design I could adapt with a subconscious level of effort.

true, the TI Fusion and upper scale, Explorer, Flex and Edge all have center cluster speedo

Works for me, now can we get ford make the gauge to activate at startup....
