Not sure if this was mentioned yet but I drove past (not through) some sprinklers today and the lights on the car came on while I was passing and turned back off. Weird the car knew there was water and didn't have a drop on it.

You must have your headlights set to automatic and passed thru a dark area...don't think it has to do with the water

No wipers on with the head lamps set to automatic won't turn the lights on for driving near water. However in automatic they turn on if it's dark enough for the ambient light sensor to determine its necessary to turn the lights on.

You sure about that? I've jumped in the car at the tail end of an afternoon thunderstorm....you know the instances where right near the edge of the storms it can be sunny as can be yet steady raining at the same time for a few more mins...and maybe within 20 or 30secs of turning on the wipers, the lights were on as well.

I mean I could see if it was right in the thick of it, thus maybe getting dark enough for that alone to turn em on, but this is mid day with the sun shining bright despite the rain still falling. I wouldn't of thought anything BUT wipers on = lights on in auto given that. hmmm.

If the option is enabled, the headlights (auto mode) go on when the wipers are on. That option can be disabled in one of the menus.

That's how I've always thought it should be. Are we talking an option with the dealer tool? IDE or whatever it's called.
