Hold the lock and unlock buttons on the key FOB simultaneously until your car honks (4 seconds or something?)

Press the button to unlock the driver door.
Press the button again within three seconds to unlock all doors. The turn
signals will flash.
Press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons on the remote control
for four seconds to disable or enable two-stage unlocking. Disabling
two-stage unlocking allows all vehicle doors to unlock with one press of
the button. The turn signals will flash twice to indicate the unlocking
mode was changed. The unlocking mode will be applied to the remote
control and intelligent access.
Intelligent access at the driver door will unlock all doors when you
disable two-stage unlocking.

Since I try never to use the key fob, I wish there was a way to lock the car from the hatchback door. The side doors have the exterior lock button, but the hatchback doesn't. My Prius has that feature, so my Foci should, too!

Maybe one day I'll get ambitious and try to run a wire from the driver's door lock button all the way to a new button in the hatchback door...

You can lock all of the doors with either front door lock pad. The hatch (and only the hatch) will open when you open with the button above the license plate as long as you have the key fob on you and when you close it, the hatch and other 4 doors all stay locked (assuming you didn't leave your key in the trunk).

My typical scenario is to park, get out, go around to the back to get something out of the hatch, and then leave the car. With the Prius there's a button on the hatch to lock the whole car...as far as I know, there's no such button on the Focus, so I have to either walk back to one of the front side doors to press the exterior button, or use the fob.

I'm saying lock the door before you go to the trunk! The hatch will still open for you and all of the doors will remain locked. When you close the trunk the hazards will flash to tell you all of the doors are (still) locked.

AH! I did not know that. Works different than the Prius, but it works out great for me. Many thanks!

Yes it works! But I found out if you left your key "accidentally" in the trunk ... it wont lock. Stupid car Hah ha ha ... Thx God ... otherwise I would have effectively locked myself out of the car.

This thread is why I love this place!!!
