Red face How to run a cable without interfering with airbags?

Hi-

I've had my '14 SE for 5 days and like it a lot. My only frustration is that the 12v socket is so far from the windshield that my GPS is more annoying than it already was on the window. I found a visor mount and got a longer cable which I planned on running discreetly to the 12v socket, but I'm concerned that I don't quite understand where the side curtain airbag deploys from. Is there a tether in the A column? Do I need to run the cable between the A column and the windshield? I've looked all over for a schematic and I can't find one.

Thank you so much!

Kate
