Dead Pedal Cover Ideas?

I just recently got the Lloyd custom cut 2012 focus floormats and they look great, except the dead pedal is left completely exposed. Since I have a manual, my foot is constantly moving on and off of the dead pedal, and I am worried it is going to start to wear out the carpet. Anyone have any ideas for protecting this area with some type of covering to protect it against wear?

I thought that was odd too. I was thinking of just buying the cheapest metal pedals I can find and screwing one to the floor there.

Both Weathertech and Husky Liners have mats for the '12 Focus now, both will cover the footrest. Weathertech only has fronts though. I'd like to see a picture of the weathertechs but I'm not sure anyone has them yet.
