I'm not sure if its going to help but 300whp Is pretty common on supercharged cobalt ss ( i own one of these now ) But we do run heat exchangers stock. But you should have no problem getting there with nitrous :D

Took forever, but I finally got all the buckets in spec. At this point I can't even read my own writing.


Fresh coat of paint


Since the head is assembled, I decided to see how much clearance I have. With a crushed Zetec head gasket, I have about 45-50 degrees of rotation before the valve hits the piston. But I will be using an SVT HG for now.

Time for an update. I bought an Explorer for the woman and had to swap the transmission and transfer case in it. Good thing I had a spare t-case, and my buddy had a transmission. I think it was a good deal for $650.



Anywho, back to the build. Had low compression after assembling it. Finally had time to pull the head back off and this is what I found.


Its from the rivet in the head gasket. Here is the same area on my stock head.



And my studs came in.


Got my OEM SVT rings from Tousley and honed the cylinders a lot more. Also picked up a cheapy Ebay header, silicone radiator hoses, stainless brake lines, and some Z3 fenders for a steal. Header came with a 2.5" flex so it was worth it IMO.





EGR tube had to go. Cut and welded shut.



But it wouldn't clear my 4 point brace, so I had to mod it. I'll be making a new one in the future.

Ok so the old valves were not only pitted, but warped. Ordered new valves after trying to lap them in I realized the seats were warped. Also took the head to a machinist for a professional port and polish.

So for the time being, I picked up another junkyard head. Complete with buckets and cams for about $60. Threw it on and she fired right up. Good thing too, because I have meets to go to the next 2 weekends.


Here it is with the new strut brace plus a thick layer of dirt.

Had a local FX meet weekend before last. So glad I was able to make it. Total of 10 Foci and a WRX.

Another meet this past weekend in Columbus, OH. 6 hours of driving and she did fine. I had to throw a stock PCV housing on it after the last meet. I was loosing too much oil, which I've seen people with the Jay Racing and CFM block off plates having the same issue.

Couple pics of me. There were around 40 Focus's at this meet so I'm not going to post every picture.



Picked up these goodies for a total of $70 out of pocket after some trading. Centerforce clutch, 42# injectors, and SVT side skirts.


Also started the 4.6 TB swap. Pulled the butterfly shaft out of a spare Focus TB and its a direct fit minus some clearancing for the bigger plate. Total investment, $10.
