Back Again

So the good news about my long term use of this mod is that is sounds fantastic, definitly adds some palpable grunt to the car, still manages to look stock, and the service department at my dealership didnt mind it at all. The bad news is that my wife doesn't like me "going vroom vroom just to hear it." Alas the result it that I am parking my manhood and a stock airbox and front air damn are back in the car.

So in an attempt to salvage the situation, I am selling my entire setup (airbox (WITH MAP SENSOR), Outerwears pre-filter, hose, bracket, and drilled front air damn for $100 + shipping. Its a great deal considering its a plug and play solution for the best CAI/RAI out there, but in the end...my balls are not mine to have.

I wont push the sale here anymore, I will post in the for sale section.

Still a great mod for our car, Thanks NEWMISSION!!

Why noy just take the panel out from the back, then no holes and easy to undo lol

When I had the piece out to drill, because it is a matt black against gloss, you could tell something was missing on the driver's side. Didn't want that "something is missing" look, but more a "factory installed option" look like it's suppose to be there. I have people come up and ask me at gas station and such all the time if Griffin Ram Air is a custom shop, or a factory option. LOVE IT!

Plus it appears some computer module is tucked up in that corner of the fender/bumper. Wanted to minimize water/dirt collection on that module from full open driving.

The one thing to keep in mind is that you will not really be "ramming" air into the intake until the airflow reaches approx 200 knots (230mph). At 230 mph, the air in front of the vehicle will be getting compressed. You will still be seeing a benefit from the colder air in front of the vehicle (since the cold air will be more dense than the hot air) but your setup won't be compressing the air into the intake.

Now, if you were travelling at 65mph, if you had a converging pipe that decreased in size roughly 3.5 times its original area, you could in theory be starting to see some compression from it....a true "ram air". It would take a bigger funnel, and not sure how it may affect your MAF at that point.

But to see an increase from the cold air you now have access to, and help it breath a bit? I can see that. Neat job!

I went to the dealer and looked at the ram air on the new Mustangs. They do have the "funnel" you are talking about. But it also flows into a rather large open box under the hood too. I guess this is the best you'll get with a street car, is to get that cold air as close to the engine as possible without making it such through a straw like a "CAI". Very interesting point. Thanks! :)

I was looking at a GT500 induction system the other day when my car was getting the oil changed. It sucks air through a very small tube then widens very quick straight into the air box that seals when the hood is shut. In the front
