That's just removing the resonator right? Cool sound yes. But still sucking hot air. I did a comparison with temp readings of short ram vs factory box on here somewhere.

Ya thats with just removing the resonator i plan on changing it soon maybe buying a new intake system when something comes out or just do something like yours.

Cool. Have fun with it!

NOTE THIS IS STILL BEFORE ADDITION OF FUNNEL

Peep the MPGs. That is from all highway. Was up to 48.9 until I came up to traffic.

(I am pulling these numbers from directly behind the MAF down stream. The probe is fully insulated and is only reading the air temp.)

Here is a frontal shot of the cone. Yes I know, now it's ventured into crude territory. But at 94 cents, I could give a crap less about funnel material that will be hidden. Besides. It did still come from the automotive department. lol

Keep in mind that fuel trims compensate for differences/tolerances in how the intake air is metered.

It is quite possible that one could install a well designed intake on a car and notice reduced performance until the fuel trims are set.

If you have made any modifications that alter the air metering, the fuel trims must settle before you can determine any performance increase/decrease.

If the modifications to the air box do not alter the air metering, there is absolutely no reason to disconnect the battery.

In any case, the PCM is always "learning". In some cases, disconnecting the battery may help it to "learn" faster.

Moar Air. Since I already had the holes, and because this part costs $45, I just slotted it out. Looks pretty good. Will take IAT reading in a couple days.

Looking good newmission. My tube and hole saw come in today, but I wont get them until Friday when I go home. After seeing your numbers I am exceedingly impressed with the performance of the funnel. Although you cant even see it when the grill piece is on, I have decided to go all in and make a fiberglass scoop. Just screwing around with some cardboard and tape ,I made a crude mold that will need some refining once I get the hose in place on Saturday. That way I will actually get to put it in place with the tube and tweak it so that it at least fits well. I will still use a funnel for the piece that mates with the tube as it seems the best way to make a snug fit that maximizes the air actually getting into the tube. I can't wait to get this project started!

Thanks! But I haven't taken any numbers WITH the funnel yet. All pictures of dash posted thus far are still without funnel, or additional holes. Just to note. :)
