Do the 2014 models suffer from the DCT transmissions issues also?

Or are the problems just restricted to 2012 and 2013 models? Has Ford fixed the problems or improved the design on the 2014 models?

I just bought a 2014 Focus S sedan automatic. I am assuming it has the same DCT transmission that people seem to be complaining about on the forums and I want to understand if I am at risk also going down the road.

I have not read of 2014 dct issues. I don't believe you to be at any risk tbh. Though as one says, dual clutch, dual personality. But the issues on the forum arent as prolific as you think. Problems affect a small amount of people vs total units sold. On top of that '12s seem to have "above average" number of issues. '13 issues are slightly lower than '12, I was a lucky one and had a '13 needing seals replaced.

If you've already locked into your purchase, give a try for yourself. If you have a problem, you'll know. If you don't, enjoy it. The focus is a great little car for the price.

As I said before, Ford MX advertise the all new 2014 Ford Focus as a worry free car.... 'Cause it's coming from Germany now. Used to sell the prior 2012-2013 from the Michigan build plant.
I drive a 2013 stick, so IDK for sure.

Thanks. Do you have a link to where I can read this information?

Improved design? Yes - to hdwe. & software.

Still some with issues? Yes to that as well. Few compared to '12's or even '13's. Seems to be at par with other issues reported, rather than being the most common issue.

5 spd owners have reported some engine driveability issues, these are usually lumped with DCT issues for those with automatics.

Most without problems never find their way to this site, "fanatics" are a small percentage of ownership.

Enjoy the new car & don't worry too much.

(When I worked as a mechanic, it seemed like everything was constantly breaking 'cause that was what I saw every day. Can't worry about the possibilities all the time)

The only way to tell where it's built is checking the VIN. If yours starts with a 1, it's built here in the USoA. Which is where all the US Focuses are built.

If built in Germany, the VIN would start with a W

Hey saintforlife,

Congratulations on your new ride! I agree with bshin352's message below. The issues that have come up are handled by Ford Dealers and engineers. Just enjoy the ride. FordService rep's orders.

Wait until July or August before deciding if 2014s are trouble free or not. For the most part 2014 owners have only driven in cooler weather. This powertrain behaves much worse in hot weather.
