Where exactly would it go? Same side as the top one, directly above it? Is there some amount of space that needs to go between the two sensors? Pictures of someone else's manifold or a marked up picture of a stock one would be ideal. It's going to be hard to get what I want from a shop if I'm not even sure what it is that I'm asking for.

If it was mine ide try and put it as far from the head as i could get it before the cat. Closer to the head the hotter its going to get an possibly quit.

I was going to put mine in #1.5 after the first one but further away then the #1 sensor.

Also on the cat base put it at an angle on the drivers side closer to the hole i have in my firewall. I also was planning to put my gauge to the left of my cluster kind of in the corner behind the vent.

Bower, I understand most of what you're saying, except this line:

Well my spelling isnt the best so try and look past that.

If you put the bung where i have 1.5 marked i would think it would put the sensor in the best location to read before the cat and so you could run it threw the firewall. My hood release runs threw a plastic plate just under my battery threw the firewall. If you pull the carpet back there is a square plastic cover where that cable runs threw. Just drill it out for the wideband cable and run it next to the hood release cable.

If you look at the manifold/cat the top and the bottom of the cat canister has a taper like a cone. If you drill the hole in the cone of the top of the cat canister and put it in the right location it should angle it where it would be easy to get to, and still out of the way from #1 and before the cat filters.

Maybe this isnt the best location? Im not really sure how the cat is designed maybe some one has an idea?



If you look at the image of the real cat where i have the dot for (1.5) if you notice its on the side kinda where #2 is but since its on the cone of the top of the cat canister it should put it off to the side but more upwards if that makes sence?

I may be wrong but i think inside the cat canister there are 2 separate filter things which clean the exhaust. The second sensor is between the 2 filters.

If they are flat like how they look in the cutaways putting the wideband bung on the cone before the cat should be the chamber before the first filter?

Ive never seen in the focus cat so im just assuming that its designed like these cutaways? It would just be a trial and error if when you drill into it you hit the first stage filter or not.



I was just going to take a gamble and have the muffler shot drill and weld in the bung. If it was open there ide use it, if not ide just plug it with a bung plug.

Well thats the thing, when i took the car to get an estimate on this job the guy told me it was a castiron manifold and it would need to be done by a different shop with a tig welder or something.

Then i found out it would need to come off to preheat it or something and then i just decided if im going to remove the manifold im going to replace it with a header with all the correct bungs already on it.

Its cool i dont care. Ide like to know what you decide to do. I think its still the cheapest route to just use what you have and get it tuned to the best it can get like it is. I think its also the best to pass inspection also.

I just figured if im going to go threw removing the manifold ide go with a header then a better exhaust after that.

Im thinking a long glasspack then a muffler after that.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to get a header, down pipe, and cat back exhaust, but since I'm in California, I can't remove either of the cats.
