Bought the cover and 4 mounting studs from my dealer for $ 64. It's a five minute install.
Thanks for the update. If it fit your SE, it should be no problem to install on my SEL.
Cheers

I don't think I've even popped the hood. I'll check and see if I have the cover on my SEL.

The total with tax was $71.07. I went to the dealership today and spoke with the Parts Department. The engine cover stud threads on to the end of the valve cover screws, then the connection balls (included with the cover) screw on to the studs. You will need to order:
Part# 6A949 1-Engine Intake Manifold Cover
Part# 6A957 2-Engine Cover Stud, Long (2 per pack)
Part# 6A957 1-Engine Cover Stud, Short
I guess that wraps it up for me.
Please post how this all goes, I'm very interested as well!

I checked fordparts.com and the cover is listed for over $80. Did you negotiate to get everything at that price?

Just to clarify, you ordered:

1x 6A949 (Cover)
2x 6A957, long (need 3 total, 2 per pack)
1x 6A957, short (need 1 total)

Thanks!

You do not have a cover on an SEL. The engine cover only came on the Titanium built prior to June.

Ford Parts won't ship directly to the consumer, you have to designate a dealership and technically purchase the item through them. What that dealership is willing to sell the part for is what you pay. Once you designate a dealership you will see two prices listed, retail and the dealer's price. Yes, those are the parts numbers I ordered, make sure the 2x studs are the long studs and the 1x is the short stud. Good Luck.

It looks like all Fords use the same part number for the engine cover but they all have a unique prefix which I didn't realize, so no eBay alternative .

My local dealer price came to $77.90 after taxes. That's the best price I could find without driving an hour away.

Thanks for all your help! Do the studs just pop on?

That ebay price seemed too good to be true. Since I don't have mine yet, I assume the studs thread on to the existing bolts, alloy07 can answer that for sure.

alloy07, do you think a drop Locktite is needed or do the studs thread on nice and tight?

I don't think any locktite is needed, they thread on tight. They do thread onto existing studs, very, very easy install.

www.fordparts.com

Items Ordered:
1. CP9Z6A949A
COVER Price: $80.18
2. CP9Z6A957A
Stud - Special Price: $1.97
3. CP9Z6A957B
Stud - Special Price: $2.35

coupon code FPTR18EW for a 10% discount.

Order and have them shipped to your local dealer to save shipping costs. My dealer says order them while they last, so I would assume they are not going to manufactured after a certain date.
