My Mustang was an automatic so I don't have anything against them, but I HAD to have a manual in the Focus. There is something about small cars and having a manual. It just doesn't seem right to have an auto.
I gotta say though, it was nice to be in the Mustang and only have to mash the pedal and go. It was tuned so I could break traction in 2nd and 3rd shifts haha. It was also nice since the gears were soooo long I could drop it into 2nd and have power all over the place. It was perfect for autocross.

Have a 2011 S Manual 41,500 miles
Wanted to see if anyone could comment on this. I've been hearing a rumble sounding like it's coming from the transmission at low rpm. Say if I'm starting up a hill betwen 1st and 2nd, shift too soon between 1,000 and 1,500. Doesn't do this all the time particularly if the rpms are where they should be. Does more in 2nd gear, but occassionally in 3rd or 4th. Trying to get a video with enough sound to post. |

I have a 2011 s 5 speed. Not so uncommon here in ny. Well at dealerships anyways. I have also been hearing a noise when I shift into 2nd and 3rd at like 3000 rpms. It's like a grinding tho... I've been driving 5 speed for years and no clutch problems but that's what it sounds like in this case... Any ideas?

Tried to get the sound of what mine does. Not as extreme usually, but I have to be careful to keep the rpms above 1500 to avoid. The noise is a definite rumble, sounding like it's coming from the transmission. Vehicle is still rolling smoothly while the rumble is taking place.

Mine does the same if the RPMs are too low for the gear its in lugging around.
My Lightning is an auto though with a built trans and nice 3000 stall converter. Its fun ;)
