A/C Questions before I take it in...

yeah, I found the resistor pack, it's on the left side of the blower. Not nearly as convenient to get to as the tRacer's but not as likely to fail for the same reason as the ones on the tRacers did for that exact reason. Ford in all of their infinite wisdom put the resistor pack and wires on the 'Scorts/tRacers right where any passanger with wet feet would end up getting it wet and over time they just plain rusted out the connectors. I'm guessing this new blower motor I'm getting will come with the resistor pack so I'm not going to bother with it. Now if the guy would e-mail me back, left a WTB message and he e-mailed me 3 times to let me know he had one and a new cable set and I jumped on it and haven't heard anything back.

Yeah, I knew that's why there wasn't a puddle.

I really hope you guys are right about the blower being the whole problem.

I just dont find it very common for both the blower AND your AC to stop working with their own problems.

I've had that thought as well, I just wish I knew when the A/C stopped working. The blower running for a limited amount of time is a recent thing. I smelled it the day it stopped working as it should.

when the blower stops working check for power at the blower. if there is power then it's the blower. If no power more then likely it's the resister. Resisters are more common and they melt the plug and especiall how it works better on some settings than others.

Also resisters don't usually come with blowers and are like $15-$20 new at the parts store. The last one I did I couldn't even unplug the connector it all melted into I big piece of love. Had to change teh plug end also.

Too funny, same story with the way the tRacers were designed, except they'd be melting from the arcing from getting wet...

Quick question for USARice:

Where are you taking the car for work? I'm in LaX too, and the gf's zx3 is in need of a new condenser (according to one shop). Seems like every time we head in there, it's a few hundred bucks for anything, I'd like somewhere to go for 2nd opinions on stuff I can't/don't have time to do myself. TIA.

Last things first... Schaler Jacobson on the southside is the only place I trust after everything Dahl Ford in Onalaska put me through. Trust me, it's unbelievable. Mike at Schaler is good to deal with, tell him Cory (USARice) sent ya.

So I got the parts in the mail and did the whole gumby under the dash thing and got the cables, resistor pack, blower, and wiring replaced. The only differences are that the selector works with no binding and the blower doesn't shut off anymore. the resistor pack looked fine, i'll throw it in a box for a rainy day.

So still no A/C.... Haven't tested any pressures yet, it's been 100+ the last couple days.

so now your doors move by the selector? blower dosen't shut off? something is not right there. what does it do when you turn the selector to off? could the knob be on wrong? or mabey a defective control unit?

Oops, maybe I didn't describe that well enough... Alls well with the blend door etc. Blower shuts off, I meant it doesn't randomly shut off like it did before.
