I know it has been a while on this thread but I was wondering... I am having a ton of vibration on start up, really loud and violent like. It goes away when I rev the engine, but if while driving I let off the gas it is back. Does this sound like a broken rear mount? And if so, will replacing it with the one from focussport going to reduce the vibration significantly??

The mount may be worn out rather than "broken." Since it's a rubber bushing (or of some sort), if it's worn down, the metal contact to the bottom of the frame would cause some noticeable vibration. What kind of vibration do you get - like noise and location? One of the other mounts may be broken rather than the rear engine mount.

Do you currently have the VF Engineering mount? if so there is some slight vibration from the lower mount at idle (not a lot) but it is a lot smoother overall. If it is OLD (on there for more than a yr) it may be worn out badly or somethign hence causing the VIOLENT vibration.

If you dont, then your bushings is probably shot and you should go get another one :P

Because, it's now listed in S2's mega Complete 'HOW TO' Archive Link sticky.
In fact, none of the "How To" threads are stuck anymore once they end up in that list.

Here's a better top down picture of the mount taken by Sport Compact Car magazine, which was used for their project SVT Focus.

I still love this mount. I don't notice the rough idle after rollout anymore. It gives the car a slight aggressive rumble and vibration through the car when you tap the throttle lightly. I just wish there were more than one mount opposing the engine's torqued rotation!
