Water collecting at bottom of doors after rain
Hi,
I have the same problem on my two week old SEL. Any suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks |

Same issue on only one of my doors, rear driver side, every time after a drive in the rain when I open it a pretty significant amount drops. Like around 500 ml (enough to fill a coke bottle) rushes out, looks like it sits on the plastic ledge. Next time it rains I'll go for a rip and try to take a video.

Since your car is still under warranty, the dealer will be best to take a look. Have you taken it there to have it inspected yet? Take care, Thomas

Yes, I did take it back to the dealer - Fullerton in Somerville, NJ. They tried out a few different things - they contacted an expert (they call him the water doctor), they also called Ford's engineering department and checked this out in a few other cars on their lot. All in all the conclusion was that there was nothing wrong with my car, it was a design issue. They recommended that I raise it with Ford. Please suggest next steps.

Mine collects some. I'm not worried about it rusting and I do live in the rust belt so something will rust eventually. Even so, there is I believe a 6 year warranty on rust.

I have noticed this happening on my 2012 SE on the passenger side rear door. Not so much after a drizzle or light rain, but always after one of our Florida afternoon deluges. I open the door and water gushes out. Seems to be from the forward part of the door frame. Never noticed that the interior is wet though, I'll check that next time.

Swing by your dealership so they can take a look. They'll be in the best position to diagnose and repair. I'd hate for your passengers to have to wear raincoats while you drive them around! ![]() -Crystal
