2003 focus radio issues

Hello All,

I am a new member of Focus fanatics, I just bought my first focus an 03 SE wagon. It has the Zetech engine that runs great, but the radio/cd has an issue with the clock memory. I'm thinking I wired something wrong, every time I shut the engine off the clock reads 12:01 when I start the car again. I have to set the clock to the right time every time I start it up. If I shut it down and start it again a couple of seconds later the clock remembers the correct time, but after 10 seconds or longer it goes back to 12:01 every time. Does any one have any idea why this happens? I don't know if it's the radio itself or did I wire it wrong, it does remember all the preset stations and everything else works fine. I replaced an aftermarket radio with an oem radio I got out of a parts car. Any help would be great so I don't lose my mind over this.

I'm looking forward to making some new friends.

Welcome to FF!

Moved this to the Car Audio section for the best responses.

Guessing that the wiring isn't quite right. Switched power & constant on power may be reversed.

I assume the stock wiring was cut & you restored it for the stock radio install.

Luck

Full name is "Car Audio, SYNC, MFT & Electronics"

You're in it now, it's found near the end of the model specific section in the table of contents.

do you loose your radio station presets as well? id pull it out and make sure the wiring harness is in good shape thats about all you can do short of buying a new stereo.

i will say that my last stereo did not display the clock on every screen (aftermarket 2din touch screen)... so i bought a $5 digital clock that i velcored on to the dash. certainly not show car status but if you dont want to spend the money on a new deck its an option.
