Sync Problem

Sorry if this is the wrong forum.

I bought a 2009 Ford Focus yesterday and decided to try some of the Sync features today. I plugged my iPod into the aux port, pressed the "AUX" button, and nothing happened. The radio just kept playing as if I hadn't done anything. Next I tried plugging the iPod into the USB port, same problem. Then both, same problem. I tried pressing the "AUX" button with nothing plugged in. Same problem. Even the voice commands button on the steering wheel does nothing.

So I activated Sync on "syncmyride" and....still nothing. Is there something wrong with the car or am I doing something wrong? A lot of support suggests I look at the Sync menus or try to update Sync but I can't even get into the Sync menu seeing as the AUX button does close to nothing.

No. My phone doesn't detect Sync and I can't open a Sync menu to see if it can find my phone.

I talked to a Sync rep and they said it was most likely turned off by the dealer and that to reset it I should pull the fuse out and plug it back in. That didn't do anything so they said to to take it to the dealer.

The dealer I bought it from isn't close so I called the closest one. They said that it was the other dealer's fault and that there is nothing wrong I just don't know what I'm doing and don't have it set up properly.

Is there some secret initial set-up I need to know about?

The other dealer is still a Ford rep and should provide customer service. I can take my car to any Ford and they will work on it, not just the one it was purchased at as a lot of people purchase online now days.
Try another dealer, you are still under warranty....make them fix it. Stand your ground man....you are a customer. They got your money, now they should be giving you some service.

File a complaint at the original dealer about the other dealer and watch how fast you get a return phone call.

I went thru that also with my wifes old Foci.....from Westway Ford in Irving to Town East Ford near my home in Mesquite....I wish I would drive that far for a "complimentary" wash and oil change, smh @ Ford customer service.

Interesting I always thought the sync service was included for the life of the vehicle.

Sync is free. Satellite radio is paid for for 6months

Sounds like a setting is screwed somewhere
Any dealer should fix this. Go in and say it doesn't work
