Not sure how much $$$ you paid for you FF but I didn't pay that grand amount for the SEL to have to keep taking the car back to the shop every time I turn around! I'm not buying Ford's claim that the shuttering just needs time to work out and won't hurt the tranny over time. You can't tell me the something in there isn't getting messed up. Or at the very least will affect the motor mounts over time which won't be covered by the warranty. My FF has 14k miles on it now. So tell me, when will it be "broke in"...!?
Not discounting your problem; however, let's recognize that most DCTs operate just fine. It is unfortunate that your does not.

Shuttering trans

As of this date I have not encountered this problem.
Trans shifts fine since the latest TSB.

FF Trans

I was told by the service tech that the Focus recall was for a trans update that should address the shuttering problem.
I have never experienced any shutter problem and the latest trans update has not affected my MPG. Still between 28 & 29 MPG local. need to go on a long trip to check Hwy MPG.

Just got back from a 2K 'round trip with the SE loaded, and it performed flawlessly. I still have the latest update to do per the service manager.

I did have a defective clutch for gears 2, 4, and 6 replaced, and since then it has been fantastic.

I still have some niggles, but they are minor, and are really the nature of the beast, it being an automated manual. Not the tranny's fault.

Anyway, both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip, until an 18-wheeler's tire exploded next to my wife, passenger side. No damage to the car, but her ear is still ringing. It exploded with enough force it blew my car onto the shoulder (I was in left lane). Incredibly, the big tire didn't disintegrate and rip my car to shreds.

This scared the hell out of both of us... she hit her head on the window.

Anyway just a positive tranny experience after the clutch replacement. Most impressed.

@Xpoorman, I hope you may get some resolution to your issues. I did with mine.

Well, I've driven my Focus a little over a 1000 miles since the latest TSB update and it appears my MPG has dropped slightly from over 29MPG to slightly less than 28MPG.
I hope this is not a trend.

I have close to 22,000 miles on mine and have had no trouble. In fact my car has not been in for anything warranty related.

It's not luck. I call it thoroughly checking out a vehicle before accepting delivery and before agreeing to pay for it!

How do you thoroughly check out a vehicle? My trans didn't act up until I drove the car 1700 miles.
