I am having the same problem with my two week old 2012 Focus. The transmission shudders on acceleration and sometimes "clunks" between 1st and 2nd gear. Worse is I was at a stop sign and went to quickly accelerate and the engine wound up quickly with no power to the wheels. The power then came in over the course of about 3 seconds. With the oncoming traffic clearly a dangerous situation. This is an unsatisfactory situation and I am amazed that Ford is letting these come out of factory like this. Trip to the dealer coming but going to need a definitive solution to this.

Thanks for your help. This is going to be a short workup. As busy as my schedule is I have talked with the dealer who sold me the car (who has been great) and told them if this can't be resolved quickly to expect the car back. To his credit he said we will do whatever needs to be done. Don't get me wrong, this car has some damn fine strengths (and some weakness) but I need reliable transportation which is not going to get me killed. Regards, Greg

BTY, is there a way to get the remote entry to arm the alarm system without honking the horn? I looked in the manual and I can't find the answer. I know how to do it on a Dodge but not this one! Thanks!

I have the same problem with my 2012. This is now the 3rd time I have been to the dealer to have the issue looked at.. My Focus now has 7000 miles on the clock and they still say it needs to break in. I feel I am being fobbed off by Ford and they have no answers!

Hey Greg,

whynotthinkwhynot sent me your information, so I will be sending you a PM shortly. As for the remote entry, just press the lock button once and it will set the alarm & flash the lights without sounding the horn. If you press it twice, the horn chirps as confirmation that all doors are locked. It's on page 166 of the Owner's Guide.

Page 275 of the owners manual says that the car has grade assist My dealer says it does not who is right. I know that on my car it does not work. The grade assist lamp does light during a lamp test
