Issues with new 2012 Ford Focus

For those of you that haven't heard, a Performance Upgrade for MFT is expected to be released early next year. We're planning to mail a USB flash drive with the software already loaded to current owners.

In the meantime, I would recommend making sure your Focus is equipped with the latest software (2.11).

Turned over 10,000 miles this week . . car is a touch over 2 months old and it rocks. I've been driving Porsche and Mercedes (e350 Convert) and we picked these up as daily drivers. They are awesome and really well made cars.

I've had a couple glitches with the MFT but it, on it's worst day, is light years ahead of the Porsche PCM or Mercedes COMAND systems. It also is totally cool that when I did had a problem that Jaclyn contacted me within minutes with a solution.

Cool beans.

I have a list of "things I'd change" (I've had some experience in vehicle design with a motorcycle company I'm involved with) but for the most part I'm quite happy with the Focus and eager for the ST to hit our shores.

I had the latest MFT upgrade installed. So far so good. I also had the transmission TSB done at my dealer. The car seems smother than before. I am on track to put 30K on the Focus in its first year! And now with my snow tires on .. I am praying for the white stuff.

Hmmm ..... auto window or express up and down .. not sure what it is called, is not working 100% after the service. I now have to hold the button to get the windows up and down in the back. it is an intermittent issue for the front windows.

Anyone ever here of this issue?

I tried to sell mine- you are obviously a Ford employee. I took it back to the dealer, they would give me 13. I just paid 20. It is all about the dealer, most of them have the same attitude that you bought it, sucker! some dont. Google 2012 focus problems, this site pops up, there seems to be a pattern here.

Haven't heard of that, but if it continues to act up intermittently, give your dealer a call to see if it's a quick adjustment. Let me know if I can help.

Hi Natasha-

The dealer was perplexed. Do you know if express up and down is suppose to work on all four windows? I have followed a TSB to get my Mustang windows working correctly. Is there a TSB on the Focus windows?

There is a way to fix the windows. When I had my MFT rebooted my windows no longer worked.

1. Lift and hold the switch until the window is fully closed, then release
the switch.
2. Lift the switch again for one more second.
3. Press and hold the switch until the window is fully open, then release
the switch.
4. Lift and hold the switch until the window is fully closed.
5. Open the window and try to close it automatically.
6. Reset and repeat procedure if the window does not close
automatically.

Took me a couple tries to get the drivers side to work.

I am gonna make a longer post when I get to a better internet connection but .....

I picked my car up on Oct 24th and have put 2300 miles on it so far with ZERO major issues. MFT works like a champ, shudder is there on occasion but I have only noticed it in relatively heavy traffic and compare it to slipping the clutch or running at a too low speed for the gear you are in. Not much different than what I do when driving a stick.

Only complaint I have is sync being so inconsistent with recognizing my commands, particularly when cold. And it not being apologetic when I cuss at it. It would be nice to hear an "oh I am so sorry" when I yell "F#@K YOU!". LOL
