I've had no breaking in period, bad clutches or any need to reset my transmission, yet I have no problems. Shifting is smooth, no shuttering, no hesitations, and no grinding.
I actually like my Focus far more than my previous car, an Acura RSX.
How many miles are on your car?

Otherwise, I agree - the 2012 Focus is a winner, even with the DCT nitpicks. As the DCT improves, hopefully 2012 owners experiencing issues won't be left to the curb. Someone mentioned the 2013 Focus having a different DCT built that alleviated some of the 2012's problems... if that person is correct, then there could be an issue going on...

I have a friend that has the exact car as me a SEL and she loves it and has no issues she bought her's about 5 months after me. Unfortunately there are people that are having a lot of issues and Ford doesn't want to pay attention to those people. I was told if I want to, I have a good case for a lawsuit. I really don't want to go that route I just want my car fixed. Otherwise I love the car just not driving it...

The point is, if there is a problem with the DCT why haven't I been exposed to it.
I have 6000 miles logged.

Same... Heck, I'll even put the new clutch in myself! I just don't feel I should have to fork over almost $800 for a leaking seal that Ford / my dealer don't want to admit fault to.

From what I have been reading it's about the actual clutches having problems, not so much the actual DCT systems it's self. Some people have already gotten their clutches and seals replaced and it has made a wold of difference. But you have to get your dealer to do it and they all do not want to do that. I just think their are some lucky ones and unlucky ones.

Maybe you and I need to start going to the same dealer - maybe that would get their attention...

Should I end up with a clutch/leaking seal problem how would I know I had the problem? How does anyone know without disassembling the trans?

Considering we're so close to each other... if one of us gets it done, the other should go there too. I'm taking mine to Heiser Ford in Glendale tomorrow. I'll let you know if they blow me off...

Technically, we don't. There may be transmission fluid at the base of the bell housing, that's a red flag.

But based on the noises during gear changes and clutches slipping (with less than 36k miles) that other have had fixed, they had leaking seals that destroyed the clutch. So I can only say with a certain level of confidence that I'm also experiencing the issue.

Yes let me know what you find out... My next stop was going to be Boucher in West Bend - that's where I bought it. Griffin and Amado have been no help.

Good luck tomorrow.

So you go to the dealer and demand he replace the clutches and he says no. You tell him you're going to a lawyer. Based on what? An assumption.
I guess if you bring your checkbook the lawyer might show some interest. I also think going up against a company like Ford would probably be a losing proposition. For you, not the lawyer.
I would appreciate any comments.
