PS - my wife drives her Focus like all other cars she's owned - full ahead or full stop. She averages 31 mpg in stop n go traffic. She gets about 35 mpg on the highway. Maybe you should drive it like you stole it.

Never said I dislike the car. It is really a great little car. I just don't like the transmission. It is hard to get used to. This is my first car in 50 years of driving that shifts this way.

Get on the road. Drive it fast, drive it slow. I'm sure that you will, in time, really enjoy your Focus.

25000 miles and still get the grinding and rumbling

I just brought my 2012 focus back for service. I see that people have had issues with the transmission and say they seem to get better after the clutch breaks in. I have over 25,000 miles on my 2012 (yes i drive A LOT) and I still experience the issue you are all having. The dealership referred to a recall but I did not get the paper from them that listed the recall. when I get it back I will ask them for the specific recall as I cannot find anything on line about a powertrain or transmission recall for the 2012 focus.

Well here we go

Bought our SEL in August..We are having the same issues as a lot of you are having. We are on the extreme side of the problem. My service manager said that himself.We bought this car for my wife's daily commuter..Like an idiot we sold a 2009 Honda civic to get this thing.(needed a four door).We are no stranger to new vehicles,especially Fords. We have a 2011 5.0 GT Mustang,and a 2012 f150 crew ecoboost.I could not be happier with those two,but this focus has a problem ,period. It has been to the dealer 3 times and it doesnt need the reflash.Re setting the drive cycle does nothing and reverse is really screwy now.It is so bad that my dealer volunteered to get a meeting with the ford engineer next week.I have been buying Fords since 1988,and never a bad experience until now. I just hope i can get this resolved. I would hate for this to keep me from a '13 Shelby purchase soon..This car is by far the nicest in its class otherwise..Great ride,great mileage,quiet ride,AWESOME sound system.Ford got sooooo close to having a perfect little car...I would take a couple of MPG's off if it had a nice smooth trans with a converter. Car has 3200 miles..
