I'm starting to feel like an oddball here. Even after a head on collision my 2012 Focus (other than the Trans update) has performed flawlessly. I have not experienced even a hint of the multitude of problems posted here.

I've had issues with my heated seats that hasn't been resolved currently. Dealer claims normal operation even though the service documents made no differential note in the manual to repair them about cloth vs leather temperature differential. It's frustrating that the hot line said otherwise, but the dealer also asked about a two year old F150 so idk. The ford service hot line claims surface measurements are invalid despite the focus workshop manual gives both resistance and temperature specifications. No issues with the dct so far though.

Well since you've already related your issues which could help others, related your .02, you no longer are a Ford Focus owner, or a "fanatic", I really don't see the point of you being here any more. Unless you really just enjoy ruffling people's tail feathers.

Without the sarcasm, break-in happens in a 1000 miles ....... at 9000 there is a problem or two

Except for the fact that he said 'hesitation', which is an ECU/induction system problem.

The attempted fixes, that have helped many, are to either reset your ECU by disconnecting the battery for 15 mins or replacing your OEM filter with a K&N drop-in.

One costs money and the other doesn't. Both have fixed many cars. I have personally put my filter in other members cars so they could try it first, but that only works for people local to me.

Sent from my stupid phone, please dismiss my illiteracy

They claimed the resistance was normal and that cloth seats are colder than leather ones.Wth?

90-100 f surface temperatures when measured with me sitting on it is unacceptable when the factory service manual says position 5, should be 125 f/52c or 30 degrees off was considered acceptable but the dealer asked with the vin of that F150 but didn't compare to another focus. Grr...

I received an in private message from Ford Customer service today.

Thanks for following up. I've read your case notes and see that you've talked with your CSM, Scott. As he stated, your dealer needs to verify the concern before they can make a repair.

We want to keep you as a member of the Ford family. I encourage you to continue to work with your dealer and CSM until your concern is resolved.

The dealer heard the noise. They plugged the noise into the Ford portal. The Ford portal tells them the grinding noise is typical. The dealer can't fix anything Ford deems as typical. Ford won't authorize the dealer to invetigate further into a typical noise.
See the circle here.

I can take this car back to the dealer as many times as I want and have them drive it around. The story will continue to be the same. Ford has a HUGE problem here. They are going to lose a lot of customers. How many have they sold so far this year; 250,000 units I believe I read in one article. That's going to be a lot of unsatisfied customers.

Go to Google and search - 2012 ford focus transmission noise
there are several videos - the one that i found that best depicts the noise I hear is 1:49 long. it's going to be hard for me to sell or trade off this car when it makes this kind of noise.
Sell a million of them Ford!!! I hope this one comes back to bite you in the....
