This is my point, you should not have to resign ones self to poor driveability!!
It's a new car....A "hard baked" problem should be in all transmissions, not just a few, relitive to the amount produced. My personal exprience is showing 50% pass rate in the transmission. Still a failure..... If I bought a Yugo or a Trebie, well then, I could let it slide. I traded in a 2005 S80 T6 Premier that I picked up from the factory in Sweden because I needed two new cars and did not want to pay 80K+. I hope I don't have to regret 50% of my purchase decision.
410 miles driven....still suck'in
I didn't mean I've resigned myself to inferior driveabilty. I have learned what this Tranny wants as far as input, to get the most out of it. And My shudder problem is pretty much gone. I have excellent feel and feedback from the acceleration, and in the downshifts. I have never experienced the reported missed shifts/loss of power in traffic. If yours is anything less than what you expect, use the Lemon Law if you have to. I really hate when I get bad customer service, and if my dealer had told me what yours told you, well lets just say I would write a quote of it in front of him, ask him to sign it, so that you could mail it to Ford HQ, the local news paper, and TV stations !

Just thought I'd mention that back in May my Focus was giving me the fits. Shuttering lagging shifts and annoying rattle. I brought it back and the service manager was happy to reflash the software for the entire car plus the latest updates. Inside of a week my car started shifting normally. Stopped shuttering and the rattle disappeared. I had 3000 mile logged.

Have'nt seen the Ford Customer Service team on here in a couple of days. I would be sick of looking at all the complaints on here too. Id be even more sick of working for a company that wont wrong a right and satisfy their customers who spend their hard earned money on a vehicle drives like its a 200,000 mile Pinto. Consider this the first of many Ford based bashings I will start to leave on here until they decide to sensor me and kick me off the forum (believe me, they will do it) or do right by us and fix our cars. ONE COMPANY, SEVERAL PROBLEMS, SEVERAL UNHAPPY CUSTOMERS, BUILT FORD TOUGH

Meesterlike24, you realize this forum is not run by Ford, right? So all you're going to do is annoy the rest of the users?

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD PRODUCT AGAIN!!!! THEY CLAIM TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND KNOW THERES A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE BUT DO NOTHING TO HELP THEIR CUSTOMERS!!

Taking your time with the break-in procedure is important; the owner's guide goes over this too: https://owner.ford.com/servlet/Conte...OwnerGuidePage. This period will also allow the adaptive learning system to run its course. You're always welcome to obtain another opinion about the shaking, though. If you plan on doing this, please shoot me your VIN, mileage, phone number, and dealer info; I'll send this to your region's Customer Service Manager.

At 158 miles took to the dealer and was told the recall did not apply, and was given the "green transmission" paper explaination and to wait 1000 to 5000 miles untill the clutches "break in". So as I am waiting, this driveability issue is pissing me off, more and more each day, and I don't think I can wait another 800 to 4200 miles for this transmission to fix it's self. Ford, please get you act together and find a fix to this soon.
Welcome aboard, Wombat67! Congrats on your Focus purchases, too! This is the proper transmission break-in period. If it doesn't improve after this has been done, I'll escalate it to your area's Customer Service Manager for review. All I'll need is your VIN, mileage, phone number, and dealer info at that time to do so. Otherwise, please keep this link in mind to save money on routine service: http://owner.ford.com/servlet/Conten...iceCouponsPage.

I think you should take your Focus out for a weekend getaway: http://social.ford.com/grab-a-badge/road+trip/! This is the perfect example for breaking-in the transmission; a little help doesn't hurt, either.

Im not annoying any of the other users. I think we are all in the same boat Mr. "che". We are all fed up with the B.S. that Ford continues to tell us. You must not be going through what everyone else is going through. If this forum is not run by Ford then why are they even on here? Ill tell you why they are on here. They read peoples complaints, they tell these people to give them their info so they can forward it to a local dealer. We bring our vehicles into the dealer and the dealer tells us to deal with the transmission the way it is!! Does anyone see this or Am I just being too rough on Ford? I think the users on this forum want Ford to step up and fix what they know is a problem. I dont think theyre too concerned with me being annoying. if I am bothering users on this site....REMEMBER THAT IM ON YOUR SIDE!! Im saying what the other USERS ARE THINKING!!!

Contrary to your thinking the Dual Clutch Transmission a state of the art revolution in transmissions also used in VW's and BMW's. The only thing I can think Ford is guilty of is advertising it as an automatic and not explaining the required breakin period.
I'm sure some of the people posting here truly have a defective transmission and I have read that some have used the Lemon Law to recover their costs, but, they are relatively few compared to the over 225,000 2012 Focus's on the road.
This is an excellent forum for information and discussion not a forum for gripes and complaints.

This thread IS for issues with the 2012 Ford Focus. It's at the top of the thread. Along with issues people are having with the transmission, is the lack of information and cooperation from Ford. My original visit to my dealer was 7 weeks ago and I still have no answers. I understand the frustration. The excuses such as, "roll up your window and turn on the radio" so you don't hear the grinding does not give me much confidence in Ford engineers. Don't think that the people on this forum are the only ones having transmission problems. I've been on several other forums full of the same complaints. But, that is not even the point. When you put out $20,000+ for a car, it should work properly and safely! There should be no excuses why it doesn't.

If you go back a few pages of this thread you'll see the moderator of this forum said this is not the thread for people to tell us how wonderful their Focus is. It's for issues and hopefully to get some help. If you don't have problems or feel the frustration of not getting answers, good for you, but don't ridicule those who feel they made a $20,000 mistake. I'm one of them.

Just as a little information- This is what it says in the owner's guide as far as breaking in a vehicle:

BREAKING-IN YOUR VEHICLE
Your vehicle does not need an extensive break-in. Try not to drive
continuously at the same speed for the first 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of
new vehicle operation. Vary your speed frequently in order to give the
moving parts a chance to break in.

Strange. This is the break-in info for a 2009 Focus without a DCT. (Owner's Guide, Page 6). This break-in info has nothing to do with the transmission. It has been standard engine break-in procedure for decades. Another excuse.

Also, Ford is listening to this forum. The Customer Service rep, Thomas, has helped me by putting me in touch with a regional manager. I thank him for that. Any information, complaint or dissatisfaction should be sent to Ford. It can only help.
