so instead of running oil through them you pump water through them instead? i dont know about all that. what would possibly be the benefit of this? you either have to pump water or oil to them so either way you have to put some fluid or another through it so what is the gain from this?

yep have to run coolant so its not a very good gain imo. trading one for the other.

what im asking though is what is the tradeoff supposed to be? is it supposed to spool faster or something? what is the point of running water through it instead of oil?

The trade off is running no oil lines. no one has posted spool difference or anything. the advantage to them is no oil lines, yet you have to run coolant lines.

wtf that is dumb. sorry but i could see the benefit if you ran NO lines at all but if you are just trading one for the other then it just seems like a waste of time for turbo manufacturers to develop them in the first place unless it would gain a pretty noticeable bit of efficiency or something to that effect.

No , you run the oil to lower the temps of the center section , the grease there is in a sealed bearing and can take very heavy loads and temps
