We don't really need to get into a tint debate here because it's a little off topic haha. But I'll just state why I feel how I do and acknowledge that each person is entitled to his or her opinion.

My best friend was hit by a drunk driver while she walked in a crosswalk on a green light. He drove right through her and then stopped for a second before pulling away and driving home. People saw the brutal hit, the vehicle and got the plates, but buddy had tinted windows so no one could "prove" he was the driver. He got away free and my friend will live with back and knee pain for the rest of her life. She used to love to run; she can't anymore.

Also, the added danger to police officers who do regular traffic stops makes the law worth it in my opinion. The risk is too great. Even people without a noted criminal record can be up to sketchy things and decide to shoot at a cop who can't see through the windows.

I've thought about this, and I'm waiting for the day when they have "electronic" windows that tint or reflect 100 percent while parked and lighten up when running to legal limits. Best of both worlds!

True.. I see your point Johnny. Never really thought of it in that light. Bright lights hurt my eyes, day or night. So I hate being in untinted vehicles. Lol.

Good looking tint jobs guys! :-)

Dad, that'd be sweet. Now I'm waiting on someone to figure that out too.

Bawx, I understand the appeal of tint. I think it looks cool too. The pros don't outweigh the cons

Yeah, I knew the technology existed, I just didn't know if anyone was using it for this application.

Appears that's only in the sunroof. When they do all the windows, that will be great, especially here in this hot climate.

I think that was the original idea behind Liquid Crystal Displays. I think it COULD be done, but aside from the cost, there is a drawback in that I think it takes power to darken the window. So if you don't drive the car for a while, dead battery from having the windows dark. If the technology worked where it took power to undarken the windows it would be a lot more feasible.

The big deal cops have with dark tint is when they are approaching your car and can't see what the occupants are doing inside thus making them very nervous. I have past the legal limit tint on all my vehicles and whenever I was pulled over (which was alot in the '90s) I never failed to have my driver's side windows all rolled down and all my papers ready and hands on the wheel which eased the officer into not even discussing my 5% window tint.

Good point, although I think it would be easy to have a system that "times out" after, say, 48 hours to prevent that problem. Expense, you're probably right, but it being electronics, it will come down (usually fast, too). Flat screen 24-inch computer monitor in 2000, $5,000. 2013, only $129.

Right, but you are talking about all of the glass being a flat screen - so the entire driver's, passengers, and rear windows would be an LCD - it could be done, but it's still not cost-effective.
