They all look good... getting mine done this weekend.

CHP has been pulling people over left and right about the front windows so for you cali guys here is a reference, section (d) is where tint is discussed:

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc26708.htm

I am carrying this and a copy of the installed material with me to prevent unecessary scraping.

I have 15% tint all the way around with a lifetime warranty, anyone in the Mooresville area tint solutions did A great job on my car and it was only 170$ including window strip.

I just put 20% backs, 35% fronts, 60% windshield on my white hatchback and I absolutely love the look, but I am now pretty paranoid of getting a ticket as this is not so kosher in MD. That being said I'm hardly alone - there are a lot of way more tinted cars around here, some practically decorated as "rolling probable cause". My baby seat, by contrast, is not so threatening. The tint on a white car is a great look - I was inspired by the various posts here. And man it makes that A/C a lot more effective.

I wound up paying damned near $500 but I used a mix of 3M and 3M crystalline films and had a "very good but we know we're good and we're proud of it" sort of shop do the work. I'm jealous at the prices some of you guys have been able to get.

Finally got it tinted! :)

The legal limit here is 70% on the windshield and fronts, whatever on the rest.

So I set it up a 70% front two windows, 15% rear windows, and 28% on the back.

Two questions:

Stupid question #1 but it would appear that the tint is applied right over the rear defroster wires. This doesn't hurt either the wires or the tint?

#2: Just got my car on 8/1/12 and thinking about tinting. However, MN law is 50% all around. Is this even worth it?

Q1 - I've had three or four cars with tinted windows over the years. No, the tint itself doesn't hurt the wires or hurt the tint, in fact on older cars, the tint actually protected the wires from accidental nicks and scratches. However, if the tint ever faded and bubbled and had to be removed, there was a very good chance of the adhesive messing up the defroster wires if the tint had to be removed, unless the installer really knew what he was doing and was careful. Not sure if new cars still have the defroster wires on the inside surface of the window or if they are embedded in the glass so this may no longer be an issue either.

Q2 - Depends what you want to accomplish. If you want heat rejection - a very high-quality film like a ceramic or Crystalline might help. If you want privacy - errrm, 50% isn't going to do much.

Thanks Tiger-Heli. I figured that the privacy wouldn't do much but I saw somewhere that the reduction in heat can be significant, which would be worth it as well since I have black leather. Damn MN laws.

Probably would be good to talk to a tint shop (and maybe some local owners as well).

I know with the lower-grade films heat rejection goes WAY down with lighter films, but the newer high-grade films do better.

Also - in some areas the police are pretty lenient and you might be fine with 35% unless they stop you for something else, and sometimes not - can't speak to MN conditions, though.

With my luck, I'd get 35% installed and then get it ripped out the next week by some state trooper, heh.
