Binyana, could you provide a little more info. If 3m is just a name, What do you think of Madico Charcool?

Thx.. Gotta set my appt. in the next couple of days..

3M does not manufacturer their own film. It is made for them. They usually demand a premium because of their name. I, and others, think it is over priced for what you get.

Madico Charcool is a high quality film. It is a color stable dyed film (non-metallic) so not only will it last a long time, but it should not effect RF signals. With that said, the install is as important as the quality of film.

Thx for the quick response and insight.
The installer I was thinking of going with uses Madico Charcool and Is charging me $175 for the 2 rear and Hatch.
I think you just made him a few bux

Also, if anyone w/20% on the hatch can chime in an comment on how dark it really is @ night that would be great!

That does not sound like a bad price for retail pricing. I think you will be happy with it.

One thing to always consider is that factory glass is almost always tinted. So when you add window film on top of already tinted glass it will allow even less visible light to pass through. Example: The VLT (Visible Light Transmitted) of Charcool 20 is actually 17%. Let's say the factory glass is tinted at 15% (85% VLT). Take .17 x .85 and you now have a VLT of approx. 14%. This can make some legal tint actually meter illegal because they did not take the factory tint into consideration.

This is the Llumar HP tint done at a place in Gainesville, FL. Everything, including a windshield strip, was $275. 32% on the front, 15% on the rear.

Here is a picture of my car. Sorry for the lo-res picture though. It was dealership tinted and has UV paint protection right off the lot when I purchased the car.

Trying to get mine done, but I'm moving to WA by the end of the year. And I know that WA is not as forgiving about tint as CA. Does any one know the tint laws for Washington state?
