The 2012 Window Tint Thread

My dealer had them done for me as part of the deal when I bought the car. I have no idea what was used, what percentage and what not. My question to all of you is, if you saw nicks and bubbles here and there, not big but big enough to notice, would you get them redone? Sometimes I think I'm anal with things being perfect and wonder if I over exagerate it.

Looking at getting mine tinted soon, been quoted 169 to have everything but the windshield done...the place uses Solar Gard. Any idea on how that brand is?

Are you looking for the best tint or cheapest price? From the specs on your car it looks like you have one of the higher priced Focus. I don't know anything about Solar Gard. I went with Formula One, but it is very expensive. Being in Southern California I wanted good performance and warranty. Also, you might want to check on how long the business you are considering have been in business and is window tinting a side line for income?

Can't wait to get my windows tinted. Have an appt to get them done tomorrow. I know that I am getting the legal limit for the front, but I am not sure on the percentage of the back yet. I will post pictures tomorrow if the weather cooperates.

Can I ask where you're getting the tints done? If it looks good, I'll get it done there too!

That's cool that you (kinda) live close. I grew up in Hanover Park.

But, I did PM you the info. However, I have not met this person yet...but probably meet him tomorrow. My salesguy has been going to him for tinting for over 10 years.

Looking forward to seeing those pics (as I am a fellow Sterling Grey Metallic owner). I REALLY want to get my windows tinted - I know that just would really add that little bit of extra to my SGM Sedan.

My main concern is I am from PA and the tint law here is stricter than I thought it would be - almost has me thinking why bother putting the coin in if my sunglasses shades can be darker then my windows :(

Anyone from Pennsylvania get their Foci tinted and have any issues??

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Pennsylvania, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.

Windshield No tint is allowed on the windshield.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
Back Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
Rear Window Must allow more than 70% of light in.

I wouldn't bother tinting at all or I would tint the entire vehicle with 35% or a bit lighter all around. I wouldn't bother doing the rear window and those little quarter panel ones and leaving the rest.

35% might be a bit too dark, I would look into seeing if they have a 40-50?
