Does Focus MK3 share Volvo V40 platform

Does the Focus MK3 share Volvo V40 platform? I think they do.

"Designed while Ford still owned Volvo, the new V40 has been embraced Geely-appointed CEO Stefan Jacoby. The car will spearhead an aggressive new “Designed Around You” marketing campaign to “revive Volvo’s rightful place in the world”. The new V40 uses Ford Focus platform, though Volvo insists that it has re-rated the electric power steering and revised every spring and damper setting."

The answer was in the very same article that you linked. This car does nothing for me. Aside from higher safety standards, Volvo doesn't interest me and has overpriced vehicles IMO.

Edit: They also made the back end look like a Nissan Juke. Yuk!

Yes and no.

Yes in that the Old S40/V50/C30 were based on the Ford/Volvo/Mazda C1 platform that underpinned the previous generation European Focus, Volvo S40/V50/C30, and Mazda 3/5.

The no comes from the fact that as the years went by they seperated their development away from the core of the same intitial platform as Ford's involvement with Volvo and Mazda lessened.

The current 3 is still a derivation of the older C1 platform and not the C1MCA (MCA being mid cycle action), which was a refresh of the platform that underpins the current MK3 Focus.

The Volvo mentioned it the article says it also uses the Focus platform, but is it the current platform, or the older one? That's the question, and I would doubt that it's based on the newer focus platform despite looking similar.

Sorry, I missed that part of the article.

I looked at the C30 while shopping for the Focus. I could live with the exterior, and it performs well, but the interior was hideous.

The wheel and instrument cluster are hideous for sure, but I kind of like the center console controls personally. They remind me of an analog version of what Telsa uses.

That's funny, that's the part I don't like. Everyone has their own tastes. The C30 is a "Love it or Hate it" kind of car. I remember when that car first came out in Europe several years ago, their advertising campaign actually state that people would either Love it or Hate it.
