The hatch back looks larger than our sedans'. I'd love to install an amp but not sure of the space.

I think there is loads of space for a good setup(even though our trunks are frustratingly small) I always imagined having an amp placed on the underside of the top of the trunk or heck under the floor by cutting out part of that styrofoam.

JL audio has their HD series that are super small efficient amps but are pricey.

what kind of a setup are you wanting?

This was my first choice but amps produce a fair amount of heat, and I couldn't figure out a smart enough way to dissipating it with our just an unsightly hole in the trunk mat.

I honestly think though the JL HD series amps would be able to do it....in all reality though you are so right....

Because you have a hatch the only other place you could have put it was where you did huh? I think having the sedan my best bet would be to place it on the top of the trunk

I can't wait till your write up

For those of you who are waiting for my next test. I have been looking at this one on amazon

And I have been in contact with the seller to ensure it is compatible with our U.S. Focus'

If they confirm everything is good, I will likely be buying this one tomorrow.

Nope. I will if I see a dimming of the headlights or of the like. I really don't think it is necessary with just a sub add. If you are installing multiple amps with multiple big subs like 4 15"s or something, then I'd def. do it. I think the stock wires will be sufficient. But time will tell.

I mounted mine where I did because I plan on making quick disconnect banana plugs for the subs, so I can quickly remove them, and then nothing is blocking the space when the seats are folded down. I thought about mounting the amp to the back of the seat but didnt because of ^

If my seats didnt fold down I prob. would have mounted the amp to the back of the seat.

The top of the trunk lid would be awesome if you could do a clean job of running the wires.

My build theme was "what wires?"

I can't wait to see, when everything is together for you, how it is. That newerstone unit you pictured has a review describing how it worked so thats pretty sweet

and about amp placement for a hatch, you got the perfect spot. When I do something my build theme will also be "what wires?" hahaha

again thanks a lot
