Should I autocross my Focus?
I recently purchased a 02 ZX3 focus with 170k miles for a daily driver. I've been wanting to get into autocross with my Evo, but I feel like I need to learn on something a bit slower. I read some of the stickies on autocross, but Im still not sure what I would need to do to the car (suspension ect) to keep me in more of a stock class.
Any help would be appreciated! |

To stay in the stock class would I be able to swap the svt suspension in and poly bushings?
I want to stay in the lowest class possible, but still have fun |

Only if you do the "complete" SVT package. In other words , not worth the trouble. To start , just get a good set of tires, not stickies, and work on staying on course and your driving.

It does have a lot of miles though so i thought freshening up the suspension with atleast the springs and struts.
As for tires, should i use a 15" rim with high performance street tires instead of a dot tire? |

Well Id like to be in the stock class. From what I understand, you can swap parts from any trim of the same model car.
high performance tires arent the same at a dot r compound tire |

In stock, you can change shocks and the front sway bar. But not coil over shocks. Wheel size that came with the car when new. All tires need a DOT number to run, r-comps and street tires both.

What suspension would you recommend? I'm on somewhat of a tighter budget due to this being my daily and not my project......yet haha

MOOG front sway bar links and Koni STR-t if the shocks and struts are worn. Koni's are on sale now at Tire Rack. Just put a set of those struts on for that reason. Yellows are better but costly. Most important is to drive events. Talk to and ride with experienced drivers!
