Per my understanding of the rules, STX and STU are different only on displacement limitations and wheel and tire sizing. In the rule book, both the high flow cat and brake swap allowances read both as STX and STU. So unless the group you run with bumped you due to lack of people in class, I see no reason you couldn’t run in STX.

No 7" wide will not change your class. Especially in the STU / STX class.
Hmm ... since you still have a Cat ... I thought you can still stay in the standard ST class ... Battling in STX/STU in our region is like suicide. Crazy mods on the cars in this class and very good drivers. ST is more of a mixture and you can have fun and be competitive. Back to your original question: I vote new tires as oppose to new wheels. Wheels are nice but the tires are the real kicker for better traction and runs. ... then later save up for stiffer suspension. The SVT suspension is still too soft for the transitions around corners. -Ray-

.Flat Out.

i told ya the answer to that already!
tires all day. ideally both. but if you go for wider tires in turn you will need to purchase wider wheels so you don't pinch them too much. but how wide of a tire are you planning to go with? it's tricky to go wide on our cars.

i run the stock tire size and i rub on hard turns and elevation changes. so i wouldn't go wider.
but if you stiffen the suspension up you can run 235s.

GRM testing has shown, matching the tire size to rim width is the way to go. I think 215 would be too much on a 6 inch wheel, it would have a sloppy response.
