2012 sel ford focus
I to just bought a 2012 ford focus hatchback @ 7,000 miles it started rough ideling.Had it to dealer twice.....said it's normal. If it did it when tests driving I would have NOT bought the car. Was not running rough when purchased.
Now I have a service manager saying it could be engine mounts. Which I have heard was a problem in earlier years. |

They did beef them up a few months into 2011 production.

I think the salesman should say "just because it is running good now is no guarantee that it will in the future and we will not stand behind our warranty when it doesn't"! That would at least set the expectations.

Pull the battery and let it sit for a while then see if your problem goes away. I have a feeling the trim values and idle control get wacky, and it seems to be less of an issue for me now after doing this (at least I don't notice it shaking me).
Also, I don't think you really want the engine mounts. Stiffer can be good, but there will be a lot more vibration in the cabin from the engine running. |

I had a rolling idle and rough. Used throttle body cleaner and that god rid of the rolling but still rough. Will try disconnecting battery.
Thanks! |

Thanks for the heads up! I will def try the carb cleaner. Thats something that I do on my older vehicles lol
On a side note. I had never updated on my rough idle situation. I brought my vehicle to bring to check the rough idle. I really didn't expect them to notice much. They had told me the airbox was not close properly and it was causing the rough idle feeling. They told me they cleared the code. I knew as soon as I drove off that it felt exactly the same. As soon as he told me airbox, I was like that was a load of crap. I had called Ford about the problem and they told me to bring it back in. I honestly need the car in order to get into work. So I have just dealt with it and honestly after driving my dad's 2013 Kia Rio, I don't feel as bad. He got his car maybe a month before I did. It makes noises out the wazoo, the idle is rough, and the ride harsh as well. So hey its not just us. Just my two cents. |
