Intake Manifold Runner Control

OK... so after about 6000 miles and 3 different Ford Dealerships... I have been finally told what is wrong with my 07 Foci.

They informed me today that they are installing all the things related to the Intake Manifold Runner Control... which I guess includes a lot of the intake...

What kind of drive-ability problems would this cause? I was having a real hard time getting the throttle up to a good rpm to shift when the car was cold... it was also slightly doggy when I tried to throttle up for a pass or just to up shift... just not as bad when warm.

Please let me know what you think.

JBZ

P.S.
Just saw the new 2012 Ford Foci and its sick! Man... I got about 3 years to go before I can look at one of those little honey's! :(

If the runners were stuck open you should have very close to normal operation with a change in fuel economy but in your case it seems like they might be stuck partially closed. i just helped diagnose a bad vaccum line from the runners, in which case they were stuck open. so if it is struggling to get power i would say get it fixed asap.

Thought the same thing.

But it has to be the tumble flaps then.

Yeah... the Intake Manifold Runner control is what is written on my invoice.. they replaced the entire intake manifold... is that where the tumble flaps are located? It was ticking like a MO FO... and two previous dealers told me it was normal... once they fixed it... the tick was totally gone... love it... and I noticed a slight up tick in MPG... real glad to see that!

Yes the tumble flaps are located in the intake manifold. I have heard of one other case of them going bad and causing a tick like you describe.

I am glad I found that out... every dealer told me the ticking was normal...

Do you know if the 05-06 model years had these tumble flaps?
