2000 Focus Wagon, blower motor only works on high

Hey y'all,

I did a search prior to posting this and found some help, but not 100% what I am looking for.

From what I understand, if my blower is only working on high, (1,2,and 3 are dead) then the problem is like the blower motor resistor? Is that correct?

If so, where is the resistor located? What has to be removed to get to it and can I get one at the local auto parts store, or is it a dealer item?

Any help would be great!

Thanks,
Greg

Anyone know where the blower motor resistor is located on my 2000 wagon?

I think it is right behind the glove box, to the left of the blower housing, it's right on the wall there if I remember right.

Awesome, Thanks guys, I'm assuming here that if I remove the resistor, if it's bad, it will smell burnt, or have visible burn marks on it?

Thanks again guys, the pics were awesome, I'll pull the glove box and pull it out and see what it looks like.

So this is a local auto parts store deal and not a dealership item??

It's cheap enough to just replace the darn thing.. and it's almost always that.

Question, I see on Advance Auto's website there are two options.

1) Called a "Blower Motor Resistor" that is $19.99

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...1038011132____

2) Called a "Factory Air Switch" for 58.99

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web..._611905914____

Any idea which one I need? Is one for cars with A/C and the other for cars w/o A/C?

I called advance, they stock both, apparently, the $58 one is just higher quality? Has anyone ever used the $19.99 one from advance? If so how did it hold up? I'm thinking about just going with that one and giving it a shot. I'm actually suprised that this thing went out.

My Focus is a 2000, but has 33K original miles on it.......I guess the old adage "If mileage doesn't get it, age will" applies.
