Wow, now I'm as confused as my salesman was, he said the 203a package has MFT (not true). Are there three suspensions for the Focus (standard, sport, and touring)?
I ordered the sport pkg. with 16" alloys. The car has aluminum LCA's. The build sheet says "touring suspension". I'm assuming the build sheet is correct. Is the sport suspension stiffer than the touring? Did I pay for an upgrade I didn't get? Could I get compensated for this?

What you get with the Sport pkg on the SE is the touring suspension and is the same suspension as the SEL and TI. Only the TI with the performance package gets the sport suspension.

You got an upgrade over the standard S and SE suspension so you got what you paid for.

This was posted in another thread a while back. The SE Sport and Ti have "touring" suspensions. The SE and SEL have "standard" suspensions. Only the Ti w/ 18's has the "handling" suspension.

This is compiled from checking dealer inventory VINs in Etis, parts lists from Fordparts.com, and information from other posters. It is interesting to see how the different models are packaged. It also makes me wonder if there are errors in Etis. For example, I don't see the "MD" rear springs being used with any model, but I expected them to be used on the Titanium with 18" wheels. Also, the SE Sport uses the S rear springs?

There is no difference between hatch and sedan suspensions.
All models use the same stabilizer bars - 23.5mm front and 19mm rear.
Both suspension packages use standard brake calipers and pads.
There are two different front lower control arms - one for the S model (15" wheels) and one for all other models (16", 17" and I assume 18" wheels).
Front suspension knuckles are the same, but different rear (I think) suspension knuckles for 18" wheels.

Thumbs up

Great research and writing kam327. I can verify the part numbers as posted on my 2012 SE Sedam with sport pkg. Thanks for the clarification.

No problem, but all I can take credit for is doing a search a while back and finding this. It was someone else's hard work.

Thanks for the info. I AM happy with my choice, however, I did get shorted the rear floor mats. From what I've seen in other forums, this happens more ofrtn than not.

Question

kam327
In your post from 04-07-12 you show a listing for SE SPORT pkg w/16" wheels as having BV61-5310 NG for front coil and BV61-5560-NF for rear coil. (I know this is not your research, just posted findings). I also found a post from newmission that lists BV61-5310-NF for front and BV61-5560-NF for rear. (NF for front and rear coils). Confusing ,right? Hold on. Here we go. I have a '12 SE sedan W/SPORT pkg and 16" wheels. I pulled the tags off both right side springs...front # is BV61-5310-NF and the rear # is BV61-5560 NG. Really confusing now, right? I went to Fordparts.com Catalog and entered my VIN# to narrow the search. Results here matched the tags on the springs. WOW! Now I still don't know if i have the "sport-tuned"-"touring" suspension or not. Not sure if it matters. When I bought the car, it seemed to have a softer ride than my previous ride. I inflated the tires to 45psi and this made a big difference in ride and handling. BTW, build date is 08-05-11.

My 2012 5-Door, SE Sport Pkg w/ 16" wheels, has a November 2011 build date. Just checked the stickers/labels on the springs for part numbers...
Fronts: BV61-5310-NGF
Rears: BV61-5560-NFD

Referencing 90whtgsi's post, there is apparently a difference between the sedan/hatches, but I still have no idea what all this means...

It's just my $.02, which, when adjusted for inflation, depreciation, cost of living, electricity to run this laptop, internet connection fees, etc. etc. etc..., is worth a net value -$6.42.

Then go to Fordparts.com and you will see different part numbers for standard, touring and performance shocks.

The springs are listed in ETIS and they don't follow the standard, touring and performance so I would expect that they are tuned to the weight of the car to maintain a consistent ride height based on content.
