My wife has a 2008 Focus we have owned since new. It now has a touch over 60K on it and I am wondering when the manual transmission fluid should be changed, where the drain and fill plugs are and what type of fluid it takes.
Also, it being a "PZEV" it has some sort of "Lifetime" air filter? WTF is that all about? Never heard of such a thing. Can the Air filter be changed? Does it need to be changed? How can an air filter last a "lifetime"
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg,
I'm Natasha with Ford Customer Service. The
Scheduled Maintenance Guide states the manual transmission fluid is due to be changed at 105,000 miles. The
owner's manual recommends using Motorcraft Full Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid.
Also, your Focus has an extended-life air filter due to the PZEV Air Intake System. Under normal driving conditions, it is designed to last 15 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. If you are concerned, please visit your dealer so a technician can check the diagnostics system for the possibility of an excessively dirty air filter. Have a great day!
