Corrine,
I am truly sorry to hear of the issues you have experienced with your Focus! I understand your frustration with your dealer, as they should not have encouraged you to hope it occurs during their business hours. I appreciate that you have been a part of the Ford family in the past, and would like to earn your trust again. Please PM me with your VIN, contact information, mileage, and servicing dealer information. I will escalate to my contact at Ford of Canada, who is best able to assist. ~Natasha

This issue just happened to me. My car only has 8000 miles on it and only 6 months old. Now driving back from park and ride after work, my car went into a crawl mode and the wrench light came on.
What do I do now? get it towed to the dealership? :( its a brand new car!! If so many people are having the exact same problem? shouldn't Ford issue a recall notice? isn't this a hazardous issue? running out of power on a highway? |

There is a phone number in the owner's manual you can call to have your car towed either to the closest dealership or the dealership you purchased the car from. If you can still drive the car, then I'd drive it to the closest dealership. Lots of times, that light will go away after turning the car off.
You can wait on Natasha, she is very helpful if the dealership doesn't perform up to your expectations. As far as forcing Ford to issue a recall, you should first complain to the NHTSA, National Highway Transportation Safety Authority, on their website. I don't think these lights all have the same cause due to YM differences, but the NHTSA keeps records of consumer issues in case certain problems that could be dangerous continue to show up.

I am sorry you have to visit the dealer so soon. I understand you are upset, and I would like to assist in resolving this. The first step is taking it to be diagnosed. Please keep in mind, even though the symptoms are similar, the causes may be different. Your dealer will be able to determine why your light came on. Please private message me with your VIN, contact info, mileage, and dealer so I can try to help. ~Natasha

Yeah, when I restarted the car after a few hours, the light went off and the throttling like its missing a cylinder or two (with shaking of the car) went away!
The car actually has only 5000 miles on it (just checked) and messaged Natasha. I am quite unhappy. I bought a new car thinking I won't have a problem for at least a few years. I work for tech company in Seattle and really have no time to waste on car issues :( |

Well the Ford of Bellevue dealership was very cooperative, including Brian the customer guy. They ran a system check but found nothing, no error codes. But then they called up Ford Engineering who recommended to go ahead with a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) which asked to install a throttle body (?). I hope this fixes it.
Also thanks to FordCustomerService here. Last edited by azhar; 06-25-2011 at 04:32 AM. |
