- Take your time.
- Watch your ISO levels.
- Ask the pastor / priest / reverend about flash photography in their presence and where your are allowed to stand. (Some get annoyed and you wouldn't want them to get mad at you)
- Don't debate with anyone. Show the client you can keep a cool head no matter the situation.
- If you are shooting alone, I would stick closest to the Bride side. You only get one shot, and her reaction is one of the most important. And get the kiss from either her angle or down the aisle. (I for one am not a fan of shooting a wedding alone)
- Make sure you get those reactions. First time they see each other, first time the vail goes up, mother and father reactions on both sides, first time seeing the ring, the KISS (SUPER BIGGY THERE OF COURSE) and the first time walking as husband and wife.
- Recommend you have a Wide Angle lens and a Telephoto lens.
Wide angle for the family portraits and getting the whole room
Telephoto for when you are shooting the wedding itself.

Good luck with you first wedding. And wow, they paid you enough to get a MKII!!!

That's a lot for a first timer. And a lot of pressure. Good luck again.

Ray
Thanks for the tips Ray. I'm both nervous and excited to shoot this. I'll be having my girlfriend shoot with my second camera (she also does photography). I'm going to try and go to the rehearsel dinner with them so we can figure out times, positioning, and also get a feel for how the lighting will be (still debating on what kind of speedlite I should get for the 5dmkii).

And yep. I got the contract signed and notarized last night, as well as received payment in full. It covers most of the price of the mkii. I only have to come out of pocket a little bit, which is just fine for me. I'm super stoked to be getting the new camera. Dealing with two people on POTN and one from CL on a used body. all three of them or mid to low 40k shutter count. one comes with a battery grip as well. Just working them on slightly lowering the pricing. But I hope to have one in my hands this time next week.

Quick question for CF cards though. I'm currently using 32gb sandisk class 10 SD cards that have that |_| box with a 1 in it (supposed to be one of the faster SD cards out there). What are the equivalent in the CF cards? I don't want to have to worry about buffering when shooting video, or having lag when shooting rapid shots.
