Thanks guys! I had too much fun to not do it again. I'm shooting some drag racing next weekend and possibly traveling to a big German car festival near Carlsbad CA in a few weeks too.

Lucky Duck, Not sure if your saw my photography page update on facebook but with the new job, I am hardly having days off to be able to plan schedule photo shooting days, My only chances are if I can get a day to just do random shooting. Grant it I am making some good money that I can start saving for new equipment.

Here's what I have to share for today, Critiques please, It's feeling odd posting images and not having anyone tell me if they are liking the image or giving suggestions to make my photography better.

I like it. The photo gives me a sense of anticipation. As if you are wondering what it is they are awaiting for on the right or left side of the photo.

Black and White is great and is an art that has become popular again since it is so easy with software.

Now, my thoughts on improving. I feel the photo is much to close. But since this is an action shot, sometimes it is hard to get the composition exactly where you want it. But, that's the challenge to aim for the next time.

If you have a zoom lens, get some 2 or 3 shots of people. Reaction shots are great for this kind of sport as well. Did you take photos of them as they were passing you?

Sometimes the perspective angle of the location with your subject can change very dynamically by just turning around.

I do like this shot, but if you also have the shot of the section they are about to go through, you then will have a story board journalistic set. Which I bet you didn't just take one photo.

And last, were you standing or sitting or crouching? From the angle it looks like you are standing. Back to the perspective talk, if you were more eye level, that would have made the action even more intense in the photo, though you wouldn't have seen the people, the action of the raft would have been the main focus and subject of the photo as oppose to the group in the raft.

But overall ... nice job.

I understand what you say about the no critique on photos posted. It happens to me every week on the photo forums I visit. But eh, every so often there is a comment of 2.

The way I see it, you are doing a good job and no much you can say about your photography. Keep it up, kinda attitude.

Thanks, I was shooting with my 55mm to 200mm, I was standing too due any lower and there is rail that would block the view, when I get home from work I will post a picture of the area and some of the other shots that I took from there, the main area is the end of the raft ride at Disney californian adventure
Sent from my ADR6300 using FF Mobile

ok, so this first image not mine but it shows you where I was standing and what I mean by the rail.

Disneyland July 2012 - Grizzly River Run by PeterPanFan, on Flickr

I am standing to the right side near that trash can. I was fully zoomed trying to get some good reaction shots after the riders come down the final drop which I have some of the final drop in a bit. Here are a few more of people

And here are two of the final drop with some splash action

I am going to try working on better composition on that area with the 55 to 200 and may even try getting some 35mm prime action next time I visit the park

Oh nice. I actually thought they were on a raft trip. haha

Definitely changes the perspective of everything.

Most theme park photos are in color to show the vibrance and fun of the park.
