That is correct. Thanks, misfire.
Yes, you are just slightly too far to the left or right. No need to "angle" it (By the way, that is called a "Canter" shot if you angle it) but let's not go that route just yet for you learning. Again, I think you are heading the right direction for better dynamic photos. So, again, just Pan right or left, pulling your subject (in this case your bike) somewhat towards the center. But don't make it the center ... Let me take a photo of yours and give you an idea. Ray

Alrighty 07XL1200c, I surperimposed a Rule of Third guidline onto 2 of your photos to get an idea.
Basically, if you can put your subject more at one of the corners where the rule of third guidelines cross, you have a fairly good composition. So, here you will need to get like the tank of the bike to be the target of one of these corners. And as you can see in your photos, they are just slightly off. ![]() ![]() Ray

He sounds so high and mellow, but definitely one knowledgeable photog. Respect in the community definitely ... minus the fro. lol Some of the older generation of photogs that I have ran into don't take him very seriously. lol. My fav photographer is Chase Jarvis. Chase does what I am aiming to get myself into. Commercial photography. I have done the Corporate side and the Photo Journalist side. And have only in the past 2 years got into learning about model, glam and fashion photography. So, much to learn ... but loving every aspect of it. Ray

Oh ok I see what you're saying. I thought when you said rule of 1/3rds it had to be in the box of top and bottom. I see more practice in my future. Thanks.

That's what it comes down to for everyone. Just practice.
Like I said you will get there. Everyone here all started somewhere. And you are on the same track. We will make you a great photog yet. ![]() Ray

I got a Canon Rebel t4i!
I've got a question....going to see some live bands tonight at a small venue and I was wondering what is the best setting to use for capturing bands in lowlight conditions?

There is not one setting that is best.
You have to learn the meaning of ISO, aperture (f#), shutter speed. The triangle. You have to balance those three things. In low light you need a combination of the following: -high ISO -low aperture (f#) -slow shutter speed -(flash) If your ISO is high enough then you can bring your f# up some but the higher your ISO, the grainier your pictures. If you slow your shutter speed down you can raise your f# again. Go too slow though and it will be blurry. ...but what do I know... |

So I'm thinking until I know the camera well, just try to automatic setting and see how that goes...

Use the Night setting on the camera if you are going with the Auto setting.
And as for your shooting, you can try Shutter priority and keep it between 1/25-1/60. But have some sort of mono-pod or a very very steady hand. The camera will adjust your ISO and Aperture for you. Definitely a tough and very fast changing setting ... so yes, as lyonsroar stated, there isn't a sweet setting, changes for each band and venue. Ray
